    Sverre Harrfeldt

Reidar Eide was a superb rider with amazing balance it was said this was due to his being a very good skier. However he did know the value of a pound and caused a lot of strife as a result. I didn't see all that much of Sverre but was very impressed by what I did see. Incidentally his brother Henry rode for Edinburgh until a badly broken leg finished his career.

    Southampton

Dear Ian H, If you know the Doc well enough or have contact with him, please let him know that there are still loads of Southampton connected Speedway Riders who still consider him the very best. The Fans loved his dedication, and the riders, who would prefer to drive half way across the country to get back to Dr Biaggi, rather than chance another hospital far from home, pay great testament to the massive respect, that years of devoted service and expertise earned him. Just tell him " It's Bert's nipper" ! He will know. D C <{POST_SNAPBACK}> David I spoke to Carlo on Friday and gave him your message. (He knew you OK) He sends his best wishes to all his friends from his Saints days

    Jimmy Squibb R.I.P.

I remember Jimmy racing in the Student's Charities meeting at Old Meadowbank the year before PL speedway opened in 1960.

    The autograph book

There is a very good, no excellent speedway museum near Edinburgh but I suppose it's not "British" if it is not in England If you are in the area and it is open it is well worth a visit

    Unused Venues

I haven't a clue who you are, but I hope you can manage a speedway better than you can write Now thats no way to talk to Terry Russell is it ??? It is rumoured that God talks to Terry Russell (when he obtains his permission, Satellite TV rights etc)

    In the middle

Old Meadowbank had a football pitch complete with goals where Ian Hoskins regularly used to do his beat the goalie interval attraction aka burn the goalies hat

    Nostalgia- Cradley Heath?

I can also recall George Hunter needing Police protection to leave the stadium in the 1960's. Mind you they could dish it out then and also take it without whinging, with riders like Ivor Brown and Dougie Templeton around - hard, hard men.

    Norman Hunter

Great rider Norman I remember him flying round Hackney then fleeing off to West Ham to escape the "illegal" Provincial League.

    British League 1965

Edinburgh - Ken Thorpie actually Kevin Torpie and Ross Nickisson who was an Australian and not a foreigner at all

    Palm Trees

The ever outstretched palms of BSI?
  11. Very good meeting with some excellent racing on a pear-shaped circuit. Although the competition was effectively over I thought heat 25 was a great race and really liked Hans Andersens and Lukas Dryml's high 5 after the race - superb

    Unused Venues

It's the same two teams in the final every year though BTW other unused (by speedway) venues : Brafield Ellesmere Port (I think) Felton Stenhouse Stadium (Edinburgh) - may now have been "developed" apologies if these have already been mentioned but we seem to have drifted off-topic just a little

    Southampton

You may be interested to know that another Saints stalwart, though not a rider is still active up here at Armadale - Dr Carlo Biagi

    Riders playing football

Barry Briggs dressed up in ice-hockey gear when he signed as a Jawa/Eso works rider but I dont know if he actually played.

    Riders with two names

Think it was Bernie Lagrosse. That rings a bell. Thanks Do you know which was his real name? Did Mark Hall ride second half at Powderhall?
