    Seemond Stephens Testimonial

I've just received this press release which states that plans for Seemond's Benefit meeting have been put on hold for 12 months. "Plans to launch the Plymouth season with a meeting for Devils skipper Seemond Stephens have been put on hold. It had been intended to stage an attractive meeting at the St Boniface Arena on Easter Saturday with a number of Elite League riders expressing their willingness to turn out for the popular Cornishman. It seems, however, that the necessary permission from the sport’s ruling authorities has not been forthcoming. Stephens is opting not to comment on the situation, but the latest situation is that plans for the meeting have been shelved pending an application for Stephens to stage a meeting sometime in 2011." Apologies for this turn of events. Thanks to all those individuals and companies who expressed their support for Seemond and this meeting. Best regards, Gary Spiller Plymouth Speedway.

    Seemond Stephens Testimonial

A Facebook group has just been set up to promote Seemond's Benefit Meeting on Saturday 3rd April. Please bear with us as the initial batch of news is added to the site. In the mean time here's the link to the site ..... (hope the admin don't mind me advertising this) http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=app_23...id=268840024689 The latest news is that The Plymouth Speedway Supporters Club (PSSC) will proudly host the Launch Evening for Seemond's Benefit Meeting at the Novotel, Plymouth on Friday 12th February. What Happened To

Jason Garrity has just returned from injury and has recently made his debut for Buxton in the meeting at Mildenhall. Jack Hirst began the season with Scunthorpe, making one appearance at King's Lynn - not sure what he's up to at the present.
  9. Main Man if the letter of the law is strictly applied then surely you would only be able to cover one of the number 2 rides with the reserves? Cant' believe you're running out of antipodeans in South Wales as well!!! lol lol
  10. Fair question Parsloes ... surely worth a team slot on an average of about 6. Did I read somewhere that he's concentrating on his grass-track racing this season ?

    Stoke Sunday July 20

Delighted to report that Devils mascot Nathan Stoneman won the 250cc section of the GB U15 today at Stoke. Nathan dropped just one point, to highly rated Marc Owen, in his 4 qualifying heats to qualify directly for the final. Nathan took the chequered flag to claim victory ahead of third placed Lloyd Barrett and second placed Conor Dwyer. Unfortunately Marc Owen, the Sittingbourne mascot. suffered untimely engine problems that caused his retirement from the final. I'm told the quality of the day's racing was good and in front of a healthy crowd. Well done to all at Stoke for their last minute intervention to aid the youngsters ! B) Please note amended positions of Lloyd and Conor - apologies for my earlier error.

Indeed it was Saturday 16th August .... therefore completely destroying the very thread of Scribbler's comment !!!!

    Cl Fours

Have a look at an atlas before making inaccurate comments !!!!!! Please spare me this !!!!! Devon has the M5 which ends at Exeter !!! Wiltshire has that "backwater" known as the M4 linking South Wales and London !! The 43 miles of the A38 between Exeter and Plymouth are dual carraigeway throughout .... no travel difficulty there !! Try living in West Cornwall ..... 100 miles from the start of the M5 !!!

    Cardiff Security!

Sabre, we went in through Gate 3 and all the security did was give a cursory look inside my wife's bag. Didn't look beneath the scarf that was resting at the top of it though !! I can understand what you're saying with regards to the comparision with drinks cannisters, air horns, etc etc .... all could be used as missiles. Where does one draw the line ? As for taking the kids' drinks ... that sounds really over the top. We had a parallel experience at the Slovenian GP in 2004. All around us were being let in with chairs (wooden, metal), tables (!!!), drinks coolers and so on. When it came to our turn to enter the stadium our telescopic flagpole (plastic, hollow and very lightweight) was confiscated !!!! Still got our own back by hoisting our Cornish flag up one of the flag-poles between turns 3 and 4 !!! And it was seen quite clearly on Sky !!
  17. Pleased to announce the line-up for Friday's Best Pairs Challenge for the Silverline Perpetual Trophy (sponsored by Silverline Taxis) as follows 1 - Jamie Westacott + Jason Prynne 2 - Ben Hopwood + Kyle Hughes 3 - Jack Roberts + Nick Mallett 4 - Dean Felton + Gordon Meakins 5 - Ben Barker + Bob Charles 6 - Michael Coles + Danny Stoneman Meeting Reserves - Rusell Barnett and James White-Williams Referee - Ronnie Allen Regards Gazza Programme Editor Plymouth Devils
  18. I am reliably informed Ben bruised his foot. This meeting, this should be a good opportunity for Ben to test his fitness before riding for Stoke.
  19. That was me Jayne !! I have to say the riders, managers and team promoters were right on the ball on Friday. Full marks and more to everyone, made my job and everyone else's that much easier. The riders were exemplary in their getting to the tapes; at one stage we averaging a heat every 4.5 minutes. Look forward to seeing one and all throughout the season, regards Gazza
  20. Who was the first person to shake Tai's hand and congratulate him on breaking the track record on Friday ? One of the Plymouth pit-crew that's who. How do I know ? Well I confess it was me !!
  21. One's allowed to make comparisons though. Last year a number of conspiracy theories were banded about on the internet as to why we at Plymouth called off a meeting (vs Scunthopre) early doors. Now that element are requesting an early announcement as to whether the 4TT is on or off. Doesn't that strike anyone else with a smidge of hypocrisy ??
  22. Thanks for the info Jayne, not sure if I can get the ammendment into the programme with my deadline being today ! Will give it a go though but can't promise anything. Best wishes to Ben, hope whatever the injury is that he's back in the saddle before very long. On another tack I find it funny that people are requesting an early decision as to whether the meeting is on when the very same crowd slated the Plymouth promotion for doing so last season. Damned if you do and damned if you don't ....
  23. Here's the line-ups for the 4TT SF 1 Sittingbourne Dean Felton Joe Reynolds Luke Goody Gordon Meakins Buxton Scott James Jack Roberts Ben Taylor Jon Bethell Oxford Sam Martin Grant MacDonald Kyle Hughes Ben Hopwood Scunthorpe Tai Woffinden Byron Bekker Josh Auty Richie Dennis SF 2 Cleveland Mark Burrows Martin Emerson Greg Blair Gary Beaton Plymouth Seemond Stephens Tom Brown Adam Roynon Nicki Glanz Boston Mathew Wright Rob Smith Darren Mallett Simon Lambert Weymouth Lee Smart Sam Hurst Nathan Irwin Karl Mason These are the line-ups and riding orders that have been provided to me to include in the meeting's programme. The main news is that Cleveland have stepped in to replace Stoke in SF 2. Parsloes good shout on Luke Goody, had this change confirmed today and have ammended the programme accordingly. Apologies Jason you must have posted your info as I was typing this lot out ! Cheers Gazza
  24. Not knocking Stoke .... but last year at Loomer Road on a Saturday night there wasn't that many people there for the 4TT !! Now that was surely a good night for most, pretty central to many !! What was wrong with that ???? About 20 or so Devils made the trip to watch a great night's racing, but there wasn't much support for the other sides. Still Friday's the start of the weekend ... why not spend a couple of days in the West Country ?? Yes we'll have a good crowd (the best in the CL by far !! ) but one and all are welcome to come down to the Arena.
