After seeing seven Lads on 250cc at Scunthorpe(well done Scunthorpe)Who all looked well turned out, they have received no publicity in the Speedway Star which seems to help promote the 80cc Swedish championship why no coverage of the 250cc, they are our lads and need track time to bring them on, but if the the Promoters of British clubs are not aware of these lads they are not going to go forward  I am sure that now summer holidays are here there could be the oppotunity to invite these lads to your tracks ie: a second half ride or a pre meeting race how long does one ride take,I am sure if they get a invite they would take the oppotunity.People ask where is our up and coming talent,Well it is well hidden and not promoted,There are some clubs encouraging these youngsters,Eastbourne:Shane Hazelden,Marc Owen,Peterborough:Adam Portwood,Edinburgh:Dale Lamb,Ipswich: Brendan Warvill,Arena Essex:Rhys Naylor,These lads are all at different levels and can be matched accordingly Come on Promotors has your track got time for these lads if only a demonstration of the 250 lets give them the encouragement they derserve, they commited are you???These lads are.Come on you Promoters do'nt be shy give em' a try

Having seen Dale Lamb ride his new 250 (and have a horrific crash last week at Redcar he is ok and the bike is beeing fixed :) )Track time is what is needed to help bring these youngsters on. My son who is only 9 has been riding regularly with Dale on a Friday night at Edinburgh, a Saturday afternoon at Northside Training track (Workington) then they travel over to Berwick to ride on a Saturday night, They have also been doing Redcar's Training session on a Saturday afternoon the last few weeks instead of Northside on their 125's. Their commitment is unquestionable, a saturday usually consists of a 400 odd mile round trip at 2 different tracks with limited backing from the sponsors they have and none from the speedway world as a whole.

The Edinburgh Promotion are good with them and allowed the same track time as evey other rider who turns up for the second half.

At Northside they also get treated equally even when Premier League Riders are in attendance and have mini heats with up to four on the track at the one time from the tapes.

Brian Havelock and Glyn Taylor at Redcar are excellent with the younsters, they take the time to show and explain to them exactly what they should be doing and where they should be riding on the track, most of all they are encouraged.

At times at Berwick the younsters are sacrificed in order for the older ones to have the extra ride due to time restrictions, having said that they accomodated my son when he started and coulnd't even get his feet on the ground, after clearence from the referee's they let him start from the pit gate while the rest go from the tapes .

All in all they have ridden together since January along with other younsters Jordan Brown and young Danny that travels to Northside where the racing has been slow at times but compeditive and safe all on 125 bikes. These kids do have spills like everyone else but they bounce back up and get on with it like the pro's

This is the future of British Speedway but there's a limited amount of people and Clubs willing to put in the time to help bring them on.

If these kids are to make into League racing and beyond then it'll be down to their parents and the people willing to back them not the powers to be who run the sport in this country who are always preaching about the lack of younsters and wont do anything to help them!

As we know the Swede's run the 80cc league so..........

why can't the Brits run one or an 80cc championship?

then a 125 championship

then a 250 champioship

then they would move onto the under 15's on 500cc

With the way they have restricted the licenses this year it looks to be the only way forward or in a couple of years time there wont be an under 15's Championship as the younsters will have dried up coming through!

The Elite wont bother with young brits every time one of them signs a rider its some crap from poland, every team elite or pl should have two brits at reserve with a max of 3 year racing experiance not old men who are not good enough for a 1 to 5 place.the future lies with these young lads.why not have test matches with the danes&swedes?

Sounds like you need to set up a similar junior system to australia.I can imagine with your population and the closeness of towns it would be huge.It is relatively inexpensive you can get started for around 2000 aus, and if you treat it as a training ground , and not a do or die competition, a few tyres a year and maybe a top end rebuild will get you through. We have a new site just set up for adelaide , not a lot on at the moment but gives you a good picture of our track sidewinders.com.au/

Regards Darrell
