Give us a couple of days to dig my Speedway Stars out.

Do you also want the KO Cup heat details from 1973 ?

Re Gary Cottam (senior) from what I remember there was a photo of him in a 1973 Star I will try to scan this picture (if i can find it ! ) and also let you have his career details, average, points, etc.

In reading this thread with interest I noticed some familiar names from the sixties-PL and BL- appear in the score sheets; specifically George Major,Ross Gilbertson, Bob Hughes and Terry Shearer-the latter two in my mind connected with Newport, Ross with Poole and George with Neath and CH.I think they are all British except Terry. I left UK in 68 so my main interest is prior to that-anybody know if these folks are still alive and if so what they are doing these days.Thanx in advance to everyone out in Speedwayland!!

Ross Gilbertson was one of the former riders paraded around the Poole track during the Tony Rickardsson Farewell meeting last year.

Ross Gilbertson used to stay with my grandparents when I was a kid, yet another I was scared stiff off! There were three bedrooms Nan and Grandads, Uncle Teds and Ross Gilbertsons even now I still call the rooms that. Whenever I stayed over I always stayed in Uncle Teds room as Ross Gilbertsons scared the life out of me and he wasn't even in there!

Although George Major had been ill when I last heard (hope he's better now), he lives on the Isle of Wight and, over the years has been quite involved with the Wightlink Islanders including, at one time, being team manager.
