KevH 257 Posted January 7, 2005 I drove past Kingsmead this afternoon and noticed that construction work has begun on the site. Not sure what's being built to be honest, but I guess it's the first stage of work on a casino/hotel which I saw mentioned recently in a local paper. Shazzy, it seems not even a lottery win will see the old dream come true now mate. As you well know, there's thousands of happy memories being bulldozed into history and you just can't help getting a lump in your throat and a little tear forming. Somehow, all the time the site was there it seemed there was always some hope, maybe a real long-shot, but a chance. The words of that song keep running through my head, "If I could turn back time". Brings it all flooding back everytime I hear one of them
Addy 1 Posted January 7, 2005 "If I could turn back time". But Kev - up until three and a half years ago you had never met & got to know any of us Understand you are sad about the place & the history - but perhaps the people you've met since then make up for your loss

Brian L 2 Posted January 18, 2005 (edited) Lets have some more memories of the best team of our era to keep the mighty Crusaders name alive. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have sent some Crusaders photos from my Speedway photo collection to www.canterburycrusaders.co.uk hopefully they will be posted soon. Some great pics of Barney Kennett plus some action photos (including a crash sequence) of riders who I can't identify (I think one is Les Rumsey). The webmaster will probably recognise them! sidecar121 0 Posted January 18, 2005 (edited) Sorry about lack of updates etc. I really dont have any spare time now days! Women, bikes (real ones, with 3 wheels!) and work etc take up all of my spare hours. If anybody is interested in taking over the site (FOC!) please let me know, I'll pass on everything I have inc a copy of dreamweaver and the rights to the site name. I would like to see it kept up to date, but I cant find the time to do it. Any offers?? I can be contacted via the web site e-mail address. shazzybird 10 Posted January 20, 2005 (edited) I know someone who really will love his new name HERE Pic. 4 Brendan Shilletto Pic. 5 I would say possibly Uncle Ted or Kelvin Mullarkey as the Leathers are Alvima "Infradex" sparked a real conversation here now as to who the mystery rider is Ted said something about his teeth being in the tool box, he said he had fallen while riding and lost some teeth as a result, I am sure he mentioned Toney Davey of Ipswich. Dad standing right behind me read this and said "nope not Tony Davey, that was Phil Crump at Crewe" I remember Uncle Ted taking his teeth out and putting them in the tool box in a little tub (the same little tub that is still in his tool box today!)
