Phil Silvers 59 Posted May 13, 2007 Possibly one for Bryn..... I started going to Rye House back in the mid/late Seventies and fondly remember Brian Foote being our No1 in about '76? I know Uncle Ted Hubbard, Hughie Saunders etc.. came after Footie, I was just wondering if anyone knows the/a full Rye line up from 1976 ish? Ta
shazzybird 10 Posted May 13, 2007 Hmmmm '76 '77 I could do(ish). Where's Bobby G when you need him. There used to be a Rye House site excellent it was, then it got taken over by someone and all the statistics have now been lost in t'internet land which is really gutty, as Uncle Ted was top of the averages for years and years until along came another Edward and overtook him
norbold 7,116 Posted May 13, 2007 (edited) I'm glad you asked that question...as it gives me yet another chance to mention a good book called "70 Years of Rye House Speedway" due to be published on 21 May. The regular 1976 line up was: Ted Hubbard 9.17 Kelvin Mullarkey 7.55 Hugh Saunders 7.47 Brian Foote 7.03 Karl Fiala 6.73 Bob Garrad 6.13 Bob Cooper 5.11 Ashley Pullen 4.92 1977: Kelvin Mullarkey 9.14 Ted Hubbard 9.03 Bob Garrad 8.07 Hugh Saunders 7.32 Karl Fiala 6.22 Ashley Pullen 6.11 Bob Cooper 4.79 Do you want any more years? P.S. Brian Foote was the number one in 1974 and 1975. Edited May 13, 2007 by norbold

shazzybird 10 Posted May 14, 2007 Ordered mine online today Norby
psymon 0 Posted May 16, 2007 Ordered one for me and one for my Dad! Still remember Tiger Beech dumping his bike in the fence and ending up on the dog track in front of the crowd. Also do you remember the 'Rockets Record'. Done to the tune of 'My Old Man's a Dustman' it listed the team and had the chorus 2 4 6 8 We'll See the Rockets Score (as I remember, but I could be wrong). I just remember Brian Foote as a number 1, (I was 9 in 1975), but I don't think it was the most productive of seasons. Seem to think Bob Cooper was a main teamer with a decent average back then as well, but again, all the programmes have been long lost and I don't really know. I guess the next thing I should do is see if I've still got the record somewhere and then find someone with a record player to play it. Although, I'm not totally sure whether the music world is really ready for its resurection
