Half them riders are meant to be at Rye for Robbos meeting on the 29th

I'm guessing you have the wrong date for this meeting?

edit > this meeting is on the 26th, not the 29th ;)

Hmmm, wish we could have had Chris Holder and Zorro in that line up as well, just to give the EL geezers a bit more of a PL tester.

Still, it should be a good lark, and a little birdy tells me that there may be a surprise visitor to Perry Barr for this one...

Holder, Zorro and Parker, oh yes, what a line up it would have been then.

As it stands, not too bad though.

I'm really looking forward to this meeting. I've been waiting all season to see how one or two EL riders would go around The Barr. If Roo makes a flyer I'd expect him to break the track record (depending on track conditions). I don't expect him, or Billy, to do anything silly when out-gated though. I'm sure everyone will understand that they have bigger fish to fry (and I mean no disrespect to this meeting by that comment).

Someone said Billy may break the record. There's no chance of that but David Howe could record a very fast heat 1 time if he were to make a good start.

I wish Smoli was riding actually. I think the track would really suit his style. It's not too small, and has a good inside line.

Back to who is riding. It's a good line up of quality riders, and Craig Watson (just wait for the response by SCB to see why I said that :P ).

Lyons and Compton are likely to give the EL riders something to think about, but I can't see anyone else troubling them too much. Hopefully Roo and Billy aren't too conservative.

Ben Powell has been doing a good job, and I look forward to seeing how he copes with what is a very tough field for him.

Just decided Nikki and I may head up for this if we can both get off work.

Tried on numerous occassions to make our first visit but no luck yet.

Fingers crossed for tonight :D

Talking of Holder, it's a shame the trophy holder can't/won't be there, a certain Mr Paul Thorp, or even the runner up from 1986, who lost in a run off after they both finished on 14 and that was............................

Enjoyed tonights meeing some good racing. Great to see Garry Stead turn up, wish him well. Pity there was no Craig Watson or Chris Neath tonight, but chris schramm did a decent job and so did Lee Smart . Also hope Andy smith recovers soon, looked a nasty crash. The same can be said about Ben Powell hope he is alright for next week. All of the elite boys looked good tonight Cameron Woodward impressed, i thought David Howe and Rory Schlein were awesome, and Janniro did well. As for the premier riders Nieminen was brilliant and so was Franc ( no surprise). Andre Compton struggled tonight, his gating was not as good as it usually is although he looked quite fast. The Brummie riders struggled tonight except that is the brilliant Jason Lyons. Heat 20 was one of the best this season all four riders making the gate ( janniro, screen, schein and Lyons) and for Lyons to beat them riders shows what a good rider he is. I thought Schlein had the win in the bag after his four rides, didnt make a mistake, shows why hes a good rider and has a 8pt average in the EL. With Emilano turning up and looking well and having a collection that has surely raised alot for the bloke, it was a great evening. The only down side was it was so bloody cold

Well done to Jason Lyons a former Belle Vue rider and to Joe Screen current Belle Vue rider, only right that two riders with MANCHESTER connections should do well in the second city trophy.

Comments:

Referee: J Mcgregor

Track looks deep and grippy

Weather is overcast, It's gonna be a cold one tonight.

Couple of changes to the line-up Craig Watson is replaced by Chris Schramm & Lee Smart comes in for Chris Neath. This i believe leaves us with no reserve. Adam Lowe also replaces Henrik Moller, ok he doesn't but has been replacing him most of the night because Moller had problems with his bike

Format is 5 rides each, winner is rider with highest score. Run-off if required.

"The Bspa have decided in their wisdom that it is not in the best interests of british speedway for Ronnie Correy to join the brummies for the rest of the season. Drury has quoed this to the fans" Direct quote from the texter

Heat 3: Smith Fell and excluded, race to be re-run.

Heat 5: Smith replaced by Lowe (Smith has gone to hospital) We hope that he is ok.

Heat 10: Big crash between Lyons & Powell, both up and Ok, Powell Excluded. Race to be re-run

Heat 11: Smith replaced by Lowe (Smith is going to be shattered)

Heat 14: Gary Stead being interviewed.

Heat 16: Ok, Powell has Withdrawn with a wrist Injury

Heat 16: Smith replaced by Lowe, Moller able to take ride, Lowe had replaced him previously due to Moller having problems with his bike.

Heat 20: Fantastic Race

Well done to Jason Lyons

Thanks goes to Bev for the updates and to those that joined us here today. I bid you all a goodnight,
