Swc & Sgp Fixture Clash?

Recommended Posts

Looking at the draw for the preliminary rounds of the World Cup it looks like Greg Hancock is going to have to be in two places at the same time!?

Saturday 24th May.

SWC. Qualifying round 1.

Miskolc, Hungary.

Teams; Germany, USA, Hungary and Latvia.

Saturday 24th May.

SGP

Gothenburg.

Presumably he will be in the GP but that will severely weaken the USA team. Strange planning?

They did a similar thing last year...where the British GP clashed with Qualifying GP 2009 Round....so someone who could of won the wild card for the British GP would miss it for a qualifer.

I received a press release from the FIM a few days ago with the seeded teams etc for the SWC. According to that the Miskolc Quali is on 24.05.2008.

Looks like it's the race off for GB then along with Sweden, Australia who they will have to beat to get to the final.

It's odd because they've actually swapped the teams around (USA were originally meant to qualify on June 29th in the other meeting), but I doubt Greg will have a problem choosing. And I agree, the dates are correct - both on the 24th.

And Lukas Dryml has a clash with the Cardiff GP and qualifier on the 28th and 29th June

Seems stupid that these events are planned over these weekends.

It was originally the 25th, then this appeared on speedwayworld on the 1st:

THE draw for the 2008 Speedway World Cup has been made along with details of dates and venues for the qualifying meetings.

The qualifying meetings take place at Miskolc, Hungary, on Saturday May 24, and at Ljubljana, Slovenia on Sunday June 29.

QUALIFYING ROUND 1

Miskolc, 24.05.08

Germany

USA

Hungary

Latvia

And now it looks like it's changed again, for the third time.:D

Edit: or the FIM messed up their press release.

I know, and I do. Was just explaining why there was confusion, if that's okay with you.
