Have also been told that Troy has had unfortunate news from his specialist that he will have to rest his wrist for another 2 weeks, think I will try and recruit a certain Mr Harrison as his replacement :)

ASHLEYS MEMORIAL HAS NEW LOOK

This Wednesday at 7:30pm the King’s Lynn Stars will stage a special meeting in the memory of former Stars rider, Ashley Jones, who died after a racing incident in Australia in 2005. It promises to be the one of the most exciting meetings this year with the mighty 2009 Stars team taking on a King’s Lynn Legends team, a team that is mostly made up of former Stars riders who have earned the status as a King’s Lynn legend, just as Ashley was himself. In a slight twist to a regular 15 heat format an extra nominated race has been added and each team will feature eight riders instead of seven.

The first attempt of running the meeting back in May was unfortunately washed out, this time round the management and fans will be hoping the weather forecasters are correct with their prediction of a hot sunny day. The King’s Lynn Stars team remains at full strength with Kozza Smith making a successful return from injury last week and Tomas Topinka also making his return after his crash last Wednesday night, at number eight there will be the addition of young 16 year old Australian rider, Todd Kurtz. The Legends team has slightly changed since the first attempt to run the meeting with Troy Batchelor still injured and Shane Parker having other commitments, the good news is Olly Allen, who finished top of the Stars 2005 averages and Rusty Harrison, the former Star who has just returned to Speedway after having to quit the sport last year due to DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) will take their places, plus there is the addition of one of Ashley’s close friends, Arlo Bugeja, at number eight.

Other riders to join Olly, Rusty and Arlo in the Legends team are Kevin Doolan, who fished 2008 as the Stars highest averaged rider. Adam Allott who is one of the smoothest and fastest riders around the Saddlebow circuit. Simon Lambert who raced for the stars for two consecutive seasons. Chris Mills, who is one of the most popular riders to have ever of graced a modern day Stars race jacket, and finally Darren Mallett, who has recently been in great form filling in for Kozza Smith in the Premier League.

Stars team manager, rob Lyon, gives us his view on the meeting ahead ‘Every season Buster tries to think of a fitting way to celebrate Ashley’s life and time with us, and this season is by far the most exciting idea he has ever come up with. On paper you have two very balanced teams, the Stars have an average of around 52 points and the Legends average just over 49 points. The legends team is packed full of track specialists and it will be fascinating to see how riders like Olly and Kevin do against Darcy. Fans will be torn picking a winning team and all I can say is they should be here to watch it because it will be one of the best meetings seen ANYWHERE this year’.

The Stars strength this season was demonstrated on Saturday night after they easily disposed of Berwick in the KOC by 57 points, the aggregate win is a new club KOC record superseding the 46 point win set by the Triple Winning team of 2006 which coincidently was also against Berwick.

I've never seen this other guy around the NA (if he's ridden the NA), so I can't judge.

True.. Hopefully he'll impress. Certainly has impressed at Newport and Mildenhall. Hope he does the same against some tougher opposition.
