Phlipphlopp 3,913 Posted July 12, 2009 Got to say well done to the Russians. On the Nicki P incident , i thought he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, the Russian had the line, Nicki made a bad call IMO, but one of those you can put down as being a racing incident , you cant legislate for footrest getting hooked up in someones wheel, but at least this proves that Nicki was half a bike length behind at the time. gary moore 35 Posted July 12, 2009 *Yawn* We all know You hate Pedersen, but give it a rest. Nikki might be a hard rider, but he doesn't deserve the continual snidy remarks every time he has a crash which is not his fault (unless you are a referee obviously). I get totally pissed off by the continual snidy remarks about Nikki in here. You don't get to be world champion by being a dirty/crap rider. Give the guy a break, he was a bloody hard rider when he started out, but he has matured into a true world champion. I don't give a rubbish what anyone else thinks about him, I just hope he is ok, & bounces back to win a few more world titles. If England had a few Nikki Pedersen's in their team we wouldn't be turning up at Peterborough as also rans, scratching round for third place. If your not bothered about opinions expressed here why the rant?? Oh yeh,hes always been dirty and now its coming back to him,its called payback!!!
ruckerroo 792 Posted July 12, 2009 Triffic stuff from the ruskies, bloody hopeless efforts from several swedes and danes, bjarne was bloody awful tbh. I have to admit that i thought the ref got it wrong, to my eyes the guy in front is allowed to go where he likes, nicki was never level, let alone in front down the straight and there wasnt any room for him where he was attempting to go. Saying that i hope he makes a good recovery, he is just getting the other side of the coin this season, he cant keep getting getting miracle decisions from refs like the previous 4 years tbh. Team GB should watch how this russian side rode and take it as a big positive into monday..
RacerDon 5 Posted July 12, 2009 Agree....... Team reserves are a must and 3 rides would stop any team trying to gain by naming one of their top riders. The current situation is ridiculous, although caused by Poland abusing the previous rule a couple of season's back. Made even worse by the tactical joker rule. Anyone watching speedway for first time and seeing the combination of these two rules would almost certainly write the sport off as mickey mouse. That said I expect Russia would have won anyway. p.s. does anyone in the world NOT know how old Emil is by now ??????????????
Conkers 67 Posted July 12, 2009 Sorry to inteupt all this banter but I've had some infomation on the condition of Nicki Pedersen. Don't know if it's already been posted. Had a text late last night from a friend who does some work for the DMU - Nicki is still at the hospital and will see a specialist today to see if he needs a skin graft. He will not ride on Thursday. If I receive any further information, I'll post it.

T.N.T. 355 Posted July 12, 2009 Agree with you, but have all Russians suddenly got bikes that quick?? With the old Team Rickardsson behind them its no shock, but to do it against Sweden ... nice But why was Emil the only russian not to be in team Kevlars? Because he is a one off ! liverpool chad 2 Posted July 12, 2009 To be honest, I didn't really remember that well...I just had this vague memory of seeing a World Pairs from Australia where there was no fence around the outside. Wikipedia told me it was 1982, but it only had top 3 and the Aussies weren't there. USA - England - Denmark in that order, in case you were interested Your guess of who would be riding seems pretty good to me, though! The riders representing Australia in the world pairs final were Billy Sanders and Gary Guglielmi. Remember him? got a 12 month ban from the Australian authorities in '84 on a drugs charge. Dekker 239 Posted July 12, 2009 You don't become multi world champion by having a lack of trackcraft. Surely even a Swindon supporter can see that. In his case you become world champ by looking over your shoulder and turning right and putting riders in the fence ref hancock and ermolenko, not to mention trying to rig refs to his own advantage when he comes up to one who wont be intimidated by him and his cronie Olsen. Lawrence 0 Posted July 12, 2009 Gratulations to Russians If Team GB will win on monday at Showground, then on Thursday at Smoczyk there will be a small Final: Poland, Denmark, Australia and Sweden... Looks interesing :-)
Dekker 239 Posted July 12, 2009 (edited) Give the guy a break, he was a bloody hard rider when he started out, but he has matured into a true world champion. The DIRTY DANE has fenced people down straights, he has intimidated competitors and refs for years, he flops off right left and centre when his lack of skill puts him in bad situations like last night conning refs. You know what LT it's payback time and it's hilarious to watch him running scared of the Russians. Nice rant BTW. The Poles must be under pressure to go into the race off due to the high ticket prices putting the locals off. If theyre not in maybe a few thousand watching the race off?? rabbit 1 Posted July 12, 2009 Wow! What a meeting!! Just finished watching a recording have successfully avoided finding out the result (stayed away from Norbold's posts this time ) - so glad I did. The suspense was great and reminded me why the SWC beats the GPs hands down every year for drama. Big congratulations to the Russkis. Emil seems to have awakened some sort of latent desire in their riding - I've never seen the likes of Roman and even the Gaffer look so confident and consistent on track despite previous flashes of what they could do. A fully deserved progression to the final. Danes and Swedes slightly disappointing overall and makes you wonder if sub-consciously they'd written off the Russians before the start. Lindback seemed well out of it, and the Swedes seem to lack that 5th strong rider - has PK retired from international racing now, as i'd have thought on the world stage he'd have a bit more oomph than Ruud-boy. Danes very unlucky to lose Nicki with no replacement, but then we all know why that reserve rider option was pulled. On the Nicki incident, really nasty crash and even more eye-watering in slow motion. Hope he makes a swift recovery. I've read some of the comments about who was at fault, but in my eyes, Nicki was making a win it or bin it move down the outside, but Laguta seemed to pick up a bit and drift further out - only fractionally, but just enough when added to his move to shut the door on NP. I don't think you can say what might or might not have happened had the hook-up not intervened - that's open to conjecture - perhaps Laguta may have started to turn at that point leaving Nicki enough room, perhaps Nicki might have dumped it anyway - who knows? From an exclusion point of view, I thought it was the right decision, even if there was no intent. Just hard racing with a lot at stake. Bjarne, sadly also lacklustre, but then some of us have been trying to say he's been off-form badly this season to no avail. Perhaps now the penny will start to drop... Don't think Team GB have an easier or harder job now should they end up in the ride-off later this week. If anything, I'd sense more of a chance against the Danes than the Russians who'd probably have fancied their chances at Leszno had they been there. My only hope is that tomorrow's meeting is half as good as last nights!
