Steve Shovlar 10,453 Posted July 26, 2010 To be fair most World cup matches in The uk have been good, last years At Boro a El track was one of the best and a lot better than tonight ....the First 14 or 15 heats tonight were some of the most boring ive seen in a long time and then it got better near the end helped to look a better because Team Gb won . Kings Lynn put on a good show tonight but lets not get carried away . Absolutely spot on. And by the way Kings Lynn looks a hell of a lot better than it was when I last went. A mud bath with a shed in the middle of the centre green and Bryn smoking fags like they were going to be banned at any minute! Shame they don't have an EL speedway team to match the stadium. ladyluck 1 Posted July 26, 2010 I share Shovlar's opinion. The meeting was dreary early on, with only the close scores between Britain and Australia to maintain any interest. However, after the interval the racing was excellent. Great Britain rode extremely well, but realistically the opposition was very weak. If Australia don't get Crump and Adams back for the race-off I can't see them in the final. Schlein just isn't good enough and Ward looked out of his depth on occasions. Perhaps a little less time spent messing around in the pits and Australia might've gone through to the final. It's fine to prance around showing off in front of the helmet camera when you've a meeting in the bag, but the meeting wasn't in the bag and the Australians ended up looking foolish. Sweden, if they have Jonsson back will be a much tougher proposition in the race-off and I can see them as finalists, with either Australia or the Danes missing out. Before every one gets too carried away, it's worth considering that passing Rory Schlein is one thing; passing a Gollob or Hampel is an entirely different matter altogether. If the Australians can get Adams or Crump to replace Schlein then they have a chance. The Swedes will be much better around Vojens and Jonas Davidsson is a SWC specialist. The return of Jonsson will also make them a much harder nut to crack. I think Sweden will make the final. If Australia get Crump or Adams back, so will they. I can easily see the Danes missing out. Thursday is a different day and all that, but I felt the Swedes picked up some momentum as the meeting progressed whereas the Aussies will be on a downer having not qualified directly to the final from a strong start. Jonsson back and a replacement for Nermark and Sweden look to have what it takes to beat tonight's Aussie line-up in my opinion. Thats mighty strong imo and should see them qualify alongside the Danes. Cant see the Aussies doing anything unless they managed to get Crump/Adams/Sullivan to ride. Agreed, not the best racing to start, but the scores kept the meeting interesting and the fans on the edge of their seats. Sorry Aussie boys, but thats what you get for being arrogant. After Stead was excluded, they were all walking about laughing and then that display in front of Holders helmet cam... what a bunch of pillocks. As the saying goes, It Aint Over Til The Fat Lady Sings, but you obviously hadn't heard that one. Had Crump and Adams been there tonight, they wouldn't have let that kind of behaviour happen, of that I'm sure. Apart from that, the Aussies were pretty darned good. Roo Boy looked out of sorts and Batchelor wasn't having one of his better nights either, but Watt did ok, Holder the same and Ward will learn that in any World Championship speedway meeting, the riding his always going to be hard. They'll learn from tonight and won't make the same mistake again with the cockiness, of that I'm certain. And what about Tai...woofy woofy woofy.... Now lets see people say he isn't British... rode his socks off all night, took a hit for the cause, stood in the pits with his GB team mates and then was seen singing the National Anthem at the end.... How the heck can anyone question his committment now. Even when he realised that he had lost the point to Ward on his slow down lap, just see the reaction.... he was gutted. Just so chuffed for the whole team tonight. Maybe we won't win the thing, but at least we're in the Final and you have to be in it to win it. Go Team GB.... I think it was obvious they used him tonight thanks to his experience of the Norfolk Arena. Not too sure if Adams could be ersed with it to be honest. One things for sure, with all the star names that are missing, it should be a tight meeting on Thursday night and the Ruskies will be in amongst it too.
