The Next Viking Invasion

Recommended Posts

Our Summer tour has only just ended and we have to say it was the best one yet. Not only did we manage to hold Plymouth to a draw with a depleated team, 3 of our riders have been offered contracts to ride here next year. Peter Juul has already got fixed up with Redcar and both Thomas Jorgensen and Marc Randrup are being chased by no more than 5 premier league teams!!

We have now decided that our end of season tour will take place between the 23/9 to 3/10. I have spoken to numerous promoters who are keen to have us and the plan is to have 4-5 full 15 heat meetings with a couple of 2nd halves thrown in for good measure. We are in talks with 2 tracks about taking on their premier league sides so watch this space.

We will name riders in the coming month but we can tell you that one of them is the son of a former world team cup winner and grand prix rider!

Thanks for all your continued support

We are pleased to announce our first confirmed fixture of the tour..

Team Viking have been invited back to Plymouth to take on the Devils on Friday 24th September for a re-match following our 45-45 draw in July.

Mike was very keen to have us back after feedback from the fans after some of the best racing seen at the arena on our original visit in July.

We are really looking forward to this and we are aiming to put together our strongest team yet for the tour.

We are at present in talks with 2 premier league teams and 1 elite league club about doing premier/national league level meetings and all are very keen to have us providing they don't have any rain-offs in between, I'll leave it to you guys to guess which tracks we are on about :)

We will also be visiting Sheffield for our traditional 2nd half fixture but as of yet we Can't confirm which Thursday that will be.

I am almost ready to name our first 3 riders but you will have to wait another few days before we make their names public, In the meantime we would welcome any requests or suggestions on who you would like to see racing for us.

Thanks for your support

We are pleased to announce tonight that we have added another date to our end of season tour.

Team Viking will be making our first ever visit to the South Tees motorpark to take on the Redcar Bears on Thusday 23rd September.

This will be a challenge between premier and national league level and will see the Bears second string taking on heat leader roles.

Also we are ready to name 3 of our riders for the tour....

Alexander Edberg from Sweden joins the team after some very impressive scores this year for Ikos Smederna in the Swedish 1st Division. Alex is a member of the Swedish U21 set-up and recently won a silver medal with Sweden in the Euro U19 team championship.

From the speedway hotbed of Denmark we welcome to the team Peter Karger and Patrick Tarp. Peter is the 17 year old son of former grand prix star and world cup winner Brian and has been a good scorer for Vojens in the Dansish 1st division. Peter has only been riding speedway for 2 years but is already showing huge potential.

Patrick comes back for his second team viking tour after riding for us on the 2009 end of season tour. Patrick was one of Denmark's best 80cc riders a few years ago but quit the sport only to make a comeback late last year. He has been putting in some good scores for Holstebro in the Danish 2nd division and will ride at number 7 in the Vikings team. He is known as the party boy... enough said :)

Out dates so far....

Thursday 23/9 Redcar

Friday 24/9 Plymouth

more to be announced shortly

I hope one of the three dates yet to be announced includes a track a bit nearer to London than any of the three listed thus far?

The latest rider to add his name to our squad is no other than Casper Wortmann.

Casper has had a good season in the premier league where he improved his average but was the unfortunate victim of Kings Lynn's mid season re-shuffle.

Casper has always wanted to ride for the Vikings and was only too happy to except our invertation. Welcome to the viking ship Casper :)

Team so far...

Casper Wortmann (DK)

Peter Karger (DK)

Patrick Tarp (DK)

Alexander Edberg (SW)

We have decided that the number 7 spot in the team will be shared out between our UK Viking riders Sam Woods, Lee Geary and Danny Hodgson.

This is part of Team Vikings policy of not only helping young Scandinavian's but also helping British riders to get competitive rides. On the UK Vikings front both Lee and Sam along with Ben Holloway and Andy Braithwaite will be fyling the flag for us this sunday (6th) in the Belgian golden helmet at Zolder.

Its gonna be a busy week here on the Viking ship as we are now finalising the final 3 dates of the tour plus waiting on our 2 "big hitters" to confirm their intention to ride. Watch this space

Well its back to the drawing board for us as Casper Wortmann has signed for Workington. We always knew a club may come in for Casper and fair play to him, the premier league is where he belongs.

Anyway we have another date to add to our list. Friday the 1st October will se us head down to Dorset once more to take on the Weymouth wildcats. Weymouth has become a bit of a tradition for us now and we would like to thank Phil for inviting us down once more, we are always made welcome at radipole lane and are looking forward to beating the wildcats again (sorry Phil :) )

Dates so far...

23/9 Redcar

24/9 Plymouth

1/10 Weymouth

3/10 Newcastle

we are awaiting 2 more meetings to be confirmed now. One of those will be against a midland team which means we don't have to travel far for once :)

We are pleased to announce that Thomas Jorgensen will be returning to the Vikings for the tour.

I am happy to say that we beleive Thomas is a future world champion and has already had offers from 5 premier league teams after his awesome performance on the July Tour. He will be riding at number 1 in the team and is looking forward to the challenge of taking on some premier league regulars when we go to Redcar. Thomas is an amazing talent and possibly the best rider to have worn the Vikings race bib so far and we are confident enough to say you will be seeing a lot more of him next year :)
