Rolling Averages shouldn't be used to select teams for this event. We still can't avoid assessed averages, but using the current actual CMAs for riders who have completed the minimum number of matches would be a better way of rewarding 2011 form.

And here is one view taken from speedway-stats.co.uk, as of today (13 June @ 12:30) - the pairings are very interesting, based on 2011 form:

Newcastle 18.71 Lemon & Robson

Edinburgh 18.69 Cook & Tully

Workington 18.51 Kildemand & Wright

Glasgow 18.31 Screen & Grajczonek

Rye House 18.13 Neath & Frampton

Plymouth 17.55 Barker & Bunyan (Both Assessed)

Somerset 17.16 North & Hefenbrock

Ipswich 17.11 Doolan & Bjerre

Berwick 16.99 Franc & Smith

Sheffield 16.95 Ashworth & Parker

Redcar 16.73 Kus & Summers

Newport 16.32 Doyle & Lanham

Leicester 15.82 Darkin & Hall

Scunthorpe 14.40 Howe & Wilson

Here we go again it's all Debbie Hancock & Somersets Fault that Newport aren't allowed in.

Has anyone else noticed that the admission charge for this meeting has gone up to £20

PL average admission around £14.00, BSPA meeting, about 23 heats of Speedway, admitedley £20.00 is a lot for some people in these financlly challenging times.

Or if Topinka is fit ...

They way he's rode this year i very much doubt we'll be waiting on thomas, we'd have a better chance without him IMO

<Snip>

The selection process was by the top two averages, irrespective of their current status (eg. injured or assessed), and the teams can then select two from the top three to represent the club.

That's because the CMA is based on the so-called "Rolling" average, which includes 2010's amtches, and therefore flattens out the scoring.

Take a look at the excellent speedway-stats.co.uk, where you will see that this season, Kildemand is actually #1 at Workington:

Peter Kildemand 9.58 (NBP 8.83)

James Wright 8.93 (NBP 8.36)

Rusty Harrison 8.67 (NBP 7.60)

Tomas Topinka 8.00 (NBP 7.24)

Richard Lawson 7.47 (NBP 6.34)

I know that all I was doing was showing all of the teams in the league or is there something wrong with that?

Nothing wrong - it's just that as a stand-alone posting the totals don't make sense, ie. some of the rider choices in the selected teams mean their totals are lower than the teams that missed out. eg. Somerset won their place because of McGowan's average, while Plymouth are there because of Bunyan. Ipswich's (lack of) selection is based on Doolan & Risager (not Doolan & Bjerre as your posting implies), and Scunthorpe's top two is Howe & Haines (not Aarnio).
