Ice Racing 2012

Recommended Posts

Finnish nominations for the wc qualis:

4.1.2012 St Johann, Itävalta: Mats Järf ja Janne Vilponen

28.1.2012 Lukhovitsy, Venäjä: Antti Aakko ja Jussi Hytönen

28.1.2012 Sanok, Puola: Jouni Seppänen

The weather in Finland in crap at the moment. The days that the sun is out, it's like the best spring day. When it's clouded, it's raining and dark. Now that the winter will actually come, it means there's six weeks of -25 or below...

Just watched my Sky+ recording of the UK Flattrack staged at Leicester and in one of the breaks was an "Ice Racing - coming soon to Motors TV" advert, with action from Assen on show.

Given I recorded this Flattrack over a month ago, does anyone know if the Ice Racing has been broadcast already. I'd hate to have missed it.

no none has been shown as of yet

Same here.Lovely spring day today, but mostly rainy and grey.Saw on the news yesterday that in middle Germany at one place they have gone from 60cm snow down to 18cm in just over a week because of the mild temps....

very warm here too. Looking at the forecasts, it seems that the warm weather will continue,

so at the moment i doubt that there will be any iceracing at Gubbängen at January 10th.

And the event in Örnsköldsvik during the upcoming weekend is also i danger due to warm weather.

The article says that its pretty much a crisis since entire Europe, more or less, lacks ice.

"The idea was that Örnsköldsvik is supposed to have their first meeting the upcoming weekend. But nut even

Ö-vik is safe from the warm winds, -It rained there yesterday says P-A Lindtrö, so i don't know.

Howver, weather forecasts for Ö-vik says colder weather from Thursday and a couple of days onward.

The St Johann World Championship QR has been put back to 28/1/12 and a meeting in Austria at Weißenbach this weekend has been postponed to a date in the future.

This warm weather has a lot to answer for

It's winter over here with -5 to -10 and this is supposed to continue for a few weeks. There's practise at Alavus this weekend, I think the first time they are riding on a track. Some have had start practise at shoreline on lakes not yet frozen...

I've been updating my racing calendar for this season at would now appear that thanks to the FIM's decision to scrap Berlin from the WC calendar we now have a full 5! round Golden Spike series in our hands with meetings in Dresden, Berlin, Norrköping, Weissenbach and Heidenreischtein. I think there are much more meetings in Europe in general scheduled than for the past few years...
