All 16 riders have their first ride as usual, from the tapes. Thereafter heat winners start 30 yds back, 2nd places 20 yds and thirds 10 yds. Last placed riders are from the gate. Handicapping remains from heat 5 to the end.

Expect a full line up tomorrow.

I think you're a little behind the times, 8 !

I think the distances are now 15, 10 and 5 metres.

In his glory days it was still asking a lot of Olsen to come

from 30 yards.

We're both wrong, Beowulf!

20, 15 and 10.

I'll have to dig out some early 70s programmes to check on what it used to be.

Full line up confirmed as:

Nicolai Klindt, Scott Nicholls, Tai Woffinden, Tyson Nelson, Freddie Lindgren, Ricky Wells, Adam Skornicki, Ludvig Lindgren, Peter Karlsson, Ty Proctor, Ben Barker, Mikkel Salmonsen, Lukasz Sowka, Ryan Fisher, Ashley Morris, Chris Harris.

Pretty good line up. Good to see how Salmonden and Sowka do, don't really know anything about them but would be great if one turns out to be a hidden gem we have uncovered!

This is the best line-up I can recall off the top of my head. There are several rather than one or two genuine challengers in Lindgren, Woffinden, Nicholls and Harris. Winning it is probably a step beyond Karlsson these days but obviously he'll be up there somewhere. Barker, Fisher, Proctor, Skornicki and Klindt are all serious spoilers that could break the heart of the one of the top four in the last round of rides. Even Wells will be a threat to the big boys when he has a head start because he's pretty useful at Monmore and quick at times. Ditto that for Lindgren Jr too.

Tai Woffinden does not ride tonight due to illness
