I'm with Ben here. Looks a strong side.

Allen should score well wherever he goes.

Mellgren looks like he's very capable of making that step up to a 8 point heat leader.

They just need one of the Garrity/Nelson/Bunyan trio to step up to that 3rd heat leader role.

Bunyan has done it before, so it's feasable it could be him, but not convinced he has it in him on a consistent basis.

Garrity, on the other hand, he could really make a mockery over his starting average.

He looked much improved once he got involved with Michael Lee, and I can easily see him putting a couple of points on his average.

That team is brilliant lol. The first team to go all season without scoring a single league point? Get Olly Allen in your fantasy team - 5 rides and a TR every meeting.

Forgotten Mouldyhole in 2008?

FWIW I think its a reasonable 1-7, certainly not as good as Scunny but has improvement in it and won't finish bottom.

3 points under the limit, not seen any other line ups so far, will not be bottom I'm certain. Stand by my statement we'll be challenging.

9+6.5+5+4.5+4+3.5=32.5. That's 10 points short. I accept I'm estimating averages but no way am I 7 points out.

It's a piss poor team, it's seriously bad, even allowing for massive improvement in Garrity and Mellgren. Just who else is going to put points on their averages? This 7 riders will not hit a combined 40 by October.

Didnt they get a draw in the PT?

Some of the comments so far are laughable. You've either been drinking heavily or have recently suffered a blow to the head.

Don't share the optimism of some and there's too many if's and but's for me to be positive of a top 6 finish, but will improve on last year I'm sure.

I must have missed the BSPA statement about 6 man teams

Opps. Missed Nelsons 5.5. Still makes its 4.5 short.

Mind you, it takes some mindless optimism to believe he's going to turn up.

I'm yet to be convinced. Even if he does I'm not aware that he's been racing regularly in Australia, so will be very rusty. I'm not sure how commited he is.

Rye teams have been built under the limit for years. Im sure no Rye House supporter is surprised.

Has Allen actually been confirmed?

The side has been confirmed on the BSPA website, so one would assume so.

The line up comes to 39.92, only gotta improve by 0.8 ;)

It's an exciting team full of potential. A number one who will do the job home and away. Mellgren can make the step up to be a strong heat leader whilst we will always have two strong reserves. Granted I'd have preferred another 7 pointer as opposed to Lamber perhaps but that is the team we have and I think we will be in the mix come the end of the season.

If all else fails....

I spoke to Luke yesterday. He is seeing his specialist in the next couple of weeks, but early indications are his leg is healing quickly. He estimates the metal rod will be removed early June next year, leaving him available to get back on a bike. He still thinks he can do a solid job in the main body of the team, but it's that old chestnut about 'paying the bills'. He's now had three seasons with injurys that have prematurely curtailled his involvement in league speedway and hit the pocket accordingly.

With his engagement to Rachel, I think he is now better suited in looking to carve out a new career off the track, instead of having bits carved off of him! With his level of enthusiasm, he would always be usful to someone in the pits?

Really disappointed to see only one of the Allen brothers in The Rye House line-up.

Good base to start from with Mellgren, Nelson, Garrity and Lykke, but as usual Silver has finished a side off awfully.

Another Allen at Rye? Olly has only a little bit more ability than Tommy. A real gating tart. Lets hope he is sharp from the gate as he certainly won't be doing any passing. Very likely to get injured as well and be out for long spells as has happened throughout his career. A very meh signing as your supposed stand out performer at number one. Kennett should have been the main target.

Lambert? We have 7 points and he signs Simon Lambert. Sums Silver up. Lost his marbles years ago and nowhere near the limit again. The comment about not even looking at the averages/point limit is laughable.

Some saying this side will challenge are deluded. Mid table/lower half written all over it.

Okay, so putting my positive hat on I think we have a team which if rides to its potential can be in the mix for top half of league next season and maybe an outside chance of a play off spot.

  1. Ollie Allen, On his day is as good as any number 1 named or likely to be in the league next year, must keep his head together as I have seen meetings in which he has just disappeared and recently has become a bit injury prone
  2. Jason Garrity, Enthusiasm and skill in bucket loads, crowd favourite, must temper enthusiasm just a little sometimes. Use brain as well as balls )))
  3. Tyson Nelson, a bit unknown again as to how he has spent last season, hope he can slot back in quickly to where he was when he last raced for Rye. He was looking a 6.5/7 rider at that point.
  4. Jason Bunyan, good to see he says that he has sorted his head and his gear, now lets get back to the old JB and get the average up by a point or so ))
  5. Anders Mellgren. Totally agree with Shadders and others that this guy is going to be a class act by the end of the season, looks to be in the Linus Sundstrom school of thinking, but just needs to polish up on a few things to follow Linus's class act.
  6. Jasper Lykke Nielsen The guy is as fast as most heat leaders around the track, but you cannot give other riders a second or two start from the gate. As we all say once the gating is sorted, watch him go.
  7. Simon Lambert I am not his biggest fan but he made big strides at the end of the season and came in at a difficult time for us. Hope next year he can push on and be our key rider on bigger fast tracks and improve on the tighter more technical ones.

Plenty to look forward to next season and as long as we dont have the dreadful injuries we had last year I think the entertainment on track will be top quality.

I have to agree it looks poor. Why does he build his teams so far under the limit EVERY year?

Birdsong....
