I'm trying to set up a group to help sponsor Brandon Freemantle at £5 per person per month for the 7 months of the season from April to October.

If any of you Islander fans would like to join us take a look at the "Where Eagles Dare To Fly" website or let me know by replying to this message.

Even at just £5 per month, if we get enough of us involved it could be a big help to a young British rider just starting out on his career.

Many thanks.

Not withstanding any injuries, this team is nailed on for the play offs, Tom Pom is as good a No1 as any, Byron and Ben are solid 7/8 pointers with odd double figures, Darryl if he has decent equipment can be fast, and in Adam Ellis, you have a real trump card at reserve, should be unbeaten at home, with 2/3 away wins will see you through to the play offs. good luck to my 2nd favourite Team, and that was even before you signed a few ex Heathens.

Looks like captain Bekker will need to be replaced. He's suffering from knee ligament damage he felt at press and practice and needs an operation and a lengthy lay-off to cure it. Islanders have 8.29 to play with but I just can't see anyone out there on that figure! We missed a trick not getting Branford.

Have to say, you were certainly slow out of the blocks regarding Branford, Jake Anderson is back in town riding for Plymouth, and Im sure he has the nesecary credentials to ride for you, if he wants to do NL as well as PL. Cant think of another rider who fits the bill, and its an hammer blow for you so early in the season.

Can Jake do both? Is he a British passport holder?

he rode for Brum and Dudley at the same time

But Aussies were allowed in the NL then (think it was the CL at that time actually).

Is Dyer 'British'?

As i said as far as i am aware Jake does have Scottish Ancestry, and he has a great average for the NL, Im pretty sure he has the necesary qualifications, but does he want to do both, is the question, a good team man, i remember when we were up against it at Buxton during there all conquering season, not only did he score well on Track, but he was going round helping and encouraging the younger riders.

If you have 8.29 cant understand why you signed Becker in the first place. Branford should have been signed from the offset and you could have had a higher averaged rider instead of Ritchings or Freemantle

As i understand it Robert Branford made a very late decision to return to the Uk for the start of the season, possibly due to his recovery from the injuries he sustained in 2012, hence why Buxton did not re sign him for 2013. Byrons case is the opposite I think, in that he expected to be fully recovered for 2013, but has obviously not done so. I really would like to see IOW sign a high calibre NL replacement, but they are few and far between, hence why I mentioned Jake, another possible could Allott be persuaded to return to the Track ?.

As for Mickey <flyer> Dyer i dont think he is eligible for NL racing, his average is to high ie over 4 PL, and he has a PL birth, it used to be that anyone who had an average over 4 could not race NL, unless he did not have a PL Team place, however Im not sure of the relevant ruling these days, ie no info from the NL agm, however Im sure Malcolm or Jayne will clarify what the current ruling is on this.

Can I state that, at this stage, the IOW club itself has made NO official announcement although they have been made well aware of the situation by Byron himself. Irrespective of rumours the situation is, as I personally understand it, is that Byron is very down at what the specialist he saw has said and has stated that he is seeking further opinions at this stage.

IF he is subsequently ruled out for a lengthy period then the club will obviously have to secure a replacement for him as no facility (i.e. using r/r to cover) would be available.

I feel sure the IOW management would, and most certainly already have, make moves towards exploring just who would be a suitable replacement for him if he were to be ruled out of action.

Meanwhile best wishes to Tom Perry who has been called up at the last minute to ride in tonight's British title semi-final at Sheffield to replace the injured Lewis Bridger.

Don't think that Ando is eligible anymore. I know we were told that he couldn't do NL something to do with riding in the Aussie championhsips but not sure if it is/was totally correct but didnt pursue it as Ando was having diffiulties getting to the UK at the time anyway.
