That seems to be the main difficulty in working out a punishment that hurts the promotion but doesn't hurt the fans. If the match is re-staged with a full squad the BV promotion have achieved what they set out to do, if the match is awarded to Poole its the genuine BV fans that suffer.

 

Exactly the point I made the other day. The whole scenario was invented because the Aces knew Poole would take all 4 points if the match went ahead with the riders available. If Belle Vue are allowed to re run the match and the points gained are the difference between play offs or not then they have succeeded in what they wanted.

 

In the interests of fair play the 4 points should go to Poole and season ticket holders should get a pro rata refund.

This is a silly situation, BV should be fined and handed a points deduction, Zagar and Zetterstrom should not be allowed to ride in the re-run and no facilities should be given.

 

Put down a marker so other clubs don't try and do the same thing!

Understand what you say but if BV are punished with a points deduction and ive no problem if thats the outcome to then rerun the match with half a team and no facilities given would mean running to an empty stadium and the loss of revenue could therefore be seen as punishing the club twice.

There lucky that they are not compensating Poole fans for petrol and travel costs, If a Poole fan decided to sue the BV promotion then no doubt they would win if the investigation finds out that the meeting was called off wrongly by the Aces promotion.

 

Also Belle Vue should be stripped off holding any BSPA/SWC events for the next 5 years and that includes there "proposed" new stadium.

I can't think the FIM tracks in the UK (currently Poole, King's Lynn, Berwick and maybe Coventry, I think) are too worried about losing out to a new BV stadium being erected.

NO WAY! I am utterly shocked to the core if this is the outcome.

If that is the case then its a bleedin joke, how much lower can speedway and the powers that be stoop, they BV admitted they were wrong to call off the meeting, that is as good as admitting Liabillity. Im very sure they will get a good reception when they come to poole..... Not..

Not seen the article or judgement yet, surprised though if there's no sanction against the Aces - even if only a token slap on the wrist, as no action if any wrongdoing found may set a pretty ropey precident. Unless the Aces had genuine grounds for calling it off of course?

 

Or maybe the decision could suggest more about the state of top level speedway in the UK - and the fact that (like it or lump it) it relies on riders commuting in from Europe - & if the odd meeting bites the dust due to rider availability, then thats the reality the sport faces.

That's disgusting, they should've been fined or deducted points at the very least. Ridiculous decision. If this was Swindon, Poole or Coventry, action would've been taken immediately.
