Rye House V Sheffield (koc 1st Leg)... 11th May @ 8pm

Recommended Posts

This once again shows the folly of not naming a 'additional rider' or no8 in old money when you are running r/r. Had len chosen to use one of the young kent king's as a no8 they could at least have stepped in at no2 and may even have beaten one of sheffield bottom 3 riders.

Well I think the whole thing stinks! The man at the upper end of the BSPA is a certain Sheffield Official, who was at Rye last night, bet he was on the phone to the other cronies who run the sport in the UK stirring it up as well. Sheffield should have wiped the floor with Rye last night, boy oh boy they were awful. It's about time the sport had a independent body running it. Lovely quote I've read on facebook

Bang on correct. That certain bloke from Sheffield had a massive grin on his mug when silver announced what had happened. No way would the FIM monitor or have the slightest interest in Rye House, my take on it was that it was mismanaged by Len, the dirty shameful tactics then came from Sheffield. What really annoys me who ever was at fault is to a degree irrelevent as

it was the paying public who were again shafted having to watch three three man races shen we should be watching four iders.

As for the racing it was excellent quickly following on from the handicap meeting. Wells apart Sheffield were shocking, quite how Simon Stead can hold his head up high after that performance i will never know, he was better than that when riding for Kings Lynn. Ok so thursday he will only have to turn up to get his max but he short changed the few Sheffield fans who had travelled.

Speedway! In 2013 British Speedway is run by a bunch of clowns, yet again who suffers? Yes you've guessed it, the paying public, well the few at rye house who've bothered to turn up. I really do fear for the future of my beloved sport, time for a massive change at the top in Rugby or bye bye Speedway...

I can never understand why we don't name a number 8 for home matches. More than likely to be cost. What if Olly Allen had fallen or had an engine failure in either of the three heats he was in alone? Even a point lost could be the difference between qualifying for the next round or not. There are usually a couple of Kent riders doing a few laps in the second half at Rye.

I'm sure it was in rules at one time that a team had to nominate a No8 when operating R/R

Team boss David Hoggart was both proud and disappointed by his team’s efforts; “Rye House are a team of track specialists and they’re very good riders, I didn’t think we were awful but they were simply better than us.

Beaten by team of 4 plus 1 nl rider??????? how can you be proud?

All waffle, what else could he say?

Stead will be a different rider round Owlerton, but any extra points he gains will be negated by Wells who surely won't match last nights score. A lot will rest on whether Hall rides or not and if the Tigers reserves can score any meaningful points.

If Rye get hit with an understrength team fine and win the match, then Sheffields team was obviously weaker than ours and should also receive an understrength fine

I think you will find understrength is in regard to the NUMBER of riders available for the match not on the standard of riders in a full team provided they are the best available on the day. Rye House could only provide FIVE riders for a SEVEN rider team.

It was a joke, hence the smiley at the end of the post.

So what the BSPA fined was an under number team not an understrength team ???

When R/R relies on a 2 reserve rides you should always be naming a number 8 home and away. If we had last night we could have moved him into the team as a NL guest which we were permitted to use in place of Nelson. Three races with any rider is better than three with none, especially as a half decent number 8 would have been better than Sheffield's offering at reserve. I do feel for the promotion over the way it was handled by the FIM/SCB and with the ban. Hope it is successfully appealed.

When Rye House had notice of the visa refusal for Tyson Nelson they should then have sought clearance to use him against Sheffield?

We don't know this didn't happen, all we know is that Rye only received notice of him not being allowed to ride 20 minutes before start time. That came from Len himself at the start of the evening. We still should have had a NL rider on standby at the track as a number 8/possible guest as this happening was always a possibility.

If a rider is named in an FIM meeting as Nelson was he will not be allowed to ride anywhere else in the world if he doesn't turn up. Any promoter on the ball or with a clue of what's happening will know that.

Silver/Nelson cocked up, no one else.

Exactly how I understood it as well, and if he had included Tyson Nelson, he would have received a 28 day racing ban. ,

The number 8 can only take the r/r rides so we would still have had 3 riders in those races, crap rule and crap decision, but great tea m performance and still in with a chance of a semi final. Good job those Wigan and man city fans turned up!

Showing that the FIM dont give a damm about british speedway and the people who pay to watch it.

Whatever the rights and wrongs about nelsons visa. He was at rye house ready to ride for his team and it should be up to the BSpa to ensure that BRITISH speedway fans are looked after in BRITISH speedway .end of story
