Rye House V Sheffield (koc 1st Leg)... 11th May @ 8pm

Recommended Posts

If a rider is named in an FIM meeting as Nelson was he will not be allowed to ride anywhere else in the world if he doesn't turn up. Any promoter on the ball or with a clue of what's happening will know that.

Silver/Nelson cocked up, no one else.

If he doesn't turn up fair enough, but if his visa is refused he's surely within his rights to race for his club side. I'm presuming Silver & Nelson were of the same opinion.

The number 8 can only take the r/r rides so we would still have had 3 riders in those races, crap rule and crap decision, but great tea m performance and still in with a chance of a semi final. Good job those Wigan and man city fans turned up!

The number 8 could have replaced the missing Nelson as a junior/3 point rider.

Showing that the FIM dont give a damm about british speedway and the people who pay to watch it.

Whatever the rights and wrongs about nelsons visa. He was at rye house ready to ride for his team and it should be up to the BSpa to ensure that BRITISH speedway fans are looked after in BRITISH speedway .end of story

Agree wholeheartedly with that, the FIM don't give a dam about league Speedway at all but the European countries can cope because of their fixed race nights and close proximity to each other. I believe the FIM would like Speedway to be all individual racing like all the othe bike sports are.The Grands Prix are expanding year by year and we now have the European championship and if it wasn't for Amando Castagna the under 21 title would also be expanding. All this means less and less time for the Leagues especially in Britain. I do sometimes feel Speedway would be better off with out the interference of the FIM.

Oh dear I've got myself so worked up I need to lie down in a darkened room for a while.

The FIM exists to foster the interest of speedway worldwide through its international competitions of which - hopefully - all promoters, officials and riders worldwide are aware of the regulations regarding them. There was a technical infringement in regard to Tyson Nelson - and the mystery why his visa was refused to enter the Ukraine - and as consequent the stipulated penalty was imposed. Perhaps - and only perhaps - he did not notify the FIM what had happened thus allowing them to exempt him from the World U21 round and ride in England. Were they aware he was not attending Chevnograd or did he just not - in their eyes - fail to make an appearance at internationally sanctioned meeting?

And because of said penalty the paying british speedway fans have to suffer .its not good enough, they can sit and debate the rights and wrongs in the winter but in the meantime the bspa should ensure that the paying public gets the best product that british speedway can deliver and the FIM dont agree the can shove their silencers up there backsides

Great to see this young Rye side, that a number of its own supporters criticised heavily before a wheel was turned, is performing well able to win a meeting with 4 riders & a NL guest.

Speedway in Britain would not survive without the FIM. All the best riders would have to race outside the UK to compete internationally, while British clubs would only be able to use those British riders not wanted by European countries, while of course there would be no foreign riders.

All we would be left with wound be a grandiose National League.

Unless britain speedway starts to look after its fans the national league will be all we will be left with anyway .how many were at rye last night and of those who went how many felt cheated by a 5 man team leading to 3 rider races. This should not happen in a proffessional sport and if it carrys on the FIM and the bspa are not going to have a sport to govern.

What are you on about? This was entirely the fault of the Rye promotion not knowing the rules or they knew the rules and tried to pull a fast one. The state of British speedway has nothing to do with the FIM, try looking a little closer to home.

This may be slightly off tangent but is there a 'guesstimate' as to the attendance for Saturday's Rye House-Sheffield match and how does it compare with usual average attendances?

Who banned tyson nelson from riding on monday?. He was there ready to ride ,the bspa should of said in the intrest of the paying public we are going to overule the FIM . But it wont cause it has no thought for the fans. The FIM dont care about domestic speedway or the people who watch it .yes the problems are closer to home but the FIM do british speedway no favours. Rye house should of got confermation of the situation but common sense should of told anyone that he was there ready to ride and he should of been allowed to . Unfortunatly speedway dosent do common sense

Perhaps the FIM were unhappy about the circumstances in which the Ukranians refused Tyson Nelson a visa to enter their country. After all, going to their office in London on the day before the meeting to finalise a visa does seem rather odd. Most people sort these things out a long while before travel.

Nelson would have had by virtue of his entry to the meeting a Chevnograd a bona-fide invitation to travel there and this documentation is usually recognised by those who issue visas. IF Nelson knew he had been refused permission to travel to the Ukraine he should have sought his release from that event by the FIM and would then have most likely been granted permission to ride for Rye House against Sheffield.

It does appear to have been a unilateral decision of Nelson's being refused a visa to ride in the Ukraine so he'll line-up against Sheffield - with no sanction for this to happen being sought. On that basis the FIM ban was justified.

Of more interest - and I doubt we'll never get the answer - why did the Ukrainian visa office in London refuse him a visa? Could it have been anything to do with the problems that saw him being refuse a visa to enter the UK from Australia for the 2012 season - that dispute dragged on it seems for months and months.

Yes perhaps this is nelsons fault or rye house fault but whatever the ins and out of it ,it was the paying fans that had to suffer. he was there with bikes ready to ride and should of been allowed to . agm's and the like are the places to iron out these things not infront of the paying public.
