I agree it should be a different track every year and also think it should be on a Sunday afternoon.

Leicester would be a good choice for a Sunday afternoon.

Absolutely , Premier league standard meeting , on a premeir league standard track , in a premier league standard stadium , the saying courses for horses could not be more fitting ,

think Brandon should stage it again..really not knocking wolves here, but if you are a person who like watching on a bend or back straight, where do you go?..i personally love the monmore race track on tv, but if im their, id prefer another option than the home straight

Meeting confirmed back at Monmore Green.

Seems its rightful home. All the best British boys love Monmore and race it well.

Expecting top notch track prep as usual.

As well as its location, get a straw poll from the riders, and Monmore would be right up there.

Lynn is probably a fairer track, but East Anglia not the easiest place to drive to.Again,Somerset would have its admirers, but that wouldnt be fair on the fans who travel from the North East and Scotland.

Monmore also allocated British U-21 Final.April 15th.

Plus you would imagine that both Lynn and Somerset are content with the major events they both hold each year.

Does anyone on here not think that Brandon Stadium, packed to the rafters on a hot sunny Sunday afternoon in the eighties and early nineties, watching Mark Loram, Andy Smith, the Collins boys, Morts, Kenny Carter, the Grahame bros, Louis, etc fight it out on well watered, grippy racing strip wasn't the best years of the British Finals????

(May have missed a few star names as well)

Anyone have a particular final they remember from those days.......???

The British Finals of 1975 and 1976 were two of the best meetings I have ever seen. There were only four qualifiers and about a dozen riders good enough to get through - Simmons, Louis, Collins, Wilson, Ashby, Kennett, Jessup, McMillan, Morton, Kilby etc. Fantastic racing especially Peter Collins. In 1975 Ray Wilson fell in his first race and still got through after beating Ashby in a run-off. Stadium packed and atmosphere electric. Sadly it will never be like that again.

The major events in british speedway simply have to be on a weekend to get the full backing form the fans.

I believe a Saturday night or Sunday afternoon slot should be reserved for the british final on a track that can accommodate weekend racing. Sod the other leagues if you ride on a british speedway licence this should take priority.

If it is to regain any of it's credibility it had in the past when it was a hard fought meeting, it needs to have real emphasis. GP Wildcard slot should be reserved for the highest non GP finisher and a major sponsor backed prize presented to the winner would give the riders something to really go for. But it would need serious promoting to achieve its cult status again.

Cardiff wildcard now reverted back to highest placed rider in the British Final apart from the GP boys.
