stevebrum 6,838 Posted January 20, 2014 .............. only 14 according to SCB. The Premier League would survive without them. I notice that you never mention the squandered MONEY? :nono: Doubt it, they would struggle. With regards the `squandered money` - if you have read other posts i have made about the state of British speedway and how it is run you will know exactly my feelings on that. FWIW - if the PL had their own TV contract i reckon they would do exactly the same thing, So no, tne PL is not the golden way of doing things in the slightest. StevePark 2,806 Posted January 20, 2014 Has anybody said they would rather have no speedway? No. But that was the alternative.
BluTiger 21,719 Posted January 20, 2014 No. But that was the alternative. It is possible to be happy that speedway continues at the Showground, but saddened because its not in the Elite Lge..

Vincent Blachshadow 2,941 Posted January 20, 2014 The PL would struggle to run without using riders from the EL. Simples. No it wouldn't. If the riders could ride only EL or PL most riders coming into the sport would sign for PL clubs.

Vincent Blachshadow 2,941 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) Believe that if you choose. Of course they would. If signing for an EL team meant they couldn't ride in the PL they'd have to ride EL only and get by on three or four points a match. How many EL riders are in their formative years in the sport? The reason they sign EL at the outset is because they will be loaned out to PL clubs until they become good enough to step up. If that is taken away from them they'd sign at the lower level and wait for an EL team to sign them. If none does, they will still make a living as PL riders. Where will the rider signing EL but not good enough for the top level ride? EL teams would have to buy these riders once they become good enough to ride at the top level ONLY and even then they may decide to stay at PL level - less money per point but more than likely more points scored.Remember, this is only if they can't ride in both leagues. You are right. These days the Elite League Clubs could NOT afford to 'buy' any of the Premier League Riders anyway.

Swindon didnt buy Morris? Belle Vue didnt buy Worrall? Lakeside havent just paid for Lawson??? Wolves didnt buy Wells?? Of course they would. If there was only one league then it would be aimed at the top boys. The rest of the PL standard riders would be part of it.

Perhaps you can let The White Knight and Vincent Blackshadow know they have no relevance on this thread also.

OK to all posts that have no relevance to this thread would they be so kind as to PM or create a new topic. I come on this thread hoping to read about 2014 Panthers believe it or not... Ales Dryml would be splendid imo... As an asset would be cost effective also.
