The non blinkered speedway fans like myself and Steve0 knew this would happen with the fast track draft rubbish or whatever its called. Keeping admission at £17 was a mistake. Its actually a rip off these days. No doubt people would have given it a chance at the start of the season but after seeing riders like Greenwood and Smart poodle around they have obviously thought this ain't worth the money anymore. The worst thing is that Rosco has said that he didn't vote for it at the AGM but we are stuck with it now and its clearly costing us. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

He beat one non-finisher (Sam) and the rest of his points were from reserves (some of whom were non-starters). Elite? A ORLOV 8,628 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) A long drawn out meeting with all the accidents and hope the riders injuries are not too bad. It is good to see the continued improvement in Simon following Rosco telling him he had to start performing a few weeks ago, and Steve stepped up to having to cover for Nathan. He is also improving each meeting. Peter had a hell of a crash in heat 13 and looked a bit second hand as he limped back to the pits. He did not perform as usual but for a couple of weeks he has been trying different lines around the track. What also may of been on his mind is that he has two important meetings this weekend. The other "Robins" Jason showed Rosco why he should be a Robin again and if it was not for his visa issue, surely would be a first choice guest if Peter or Troy were unavailable. Mads showed in a couple of races that he can still beat others around Blunsdon. Nicolai improved throughout the meeting and I would not be surprised if Dak is not available next week that he is back for the meeting against Wolves. orion 7,615 Posted June 6, 2014 Was on the first bend was Doyley looking for Batch? was a tough move and i feared for PK a nasty spill. 800 to 900 maybe Orion? certainly more than the Eastbourne match just. I guess it's hard to judge i think we all argee that it was a poor crowd thou ...the way i look at it is how much the 50-50 draw is i remember it being in £250 + a few year ago yesterday it was a mere £130 . I have never once slated the actual riders. I have always said its not their fault that they are riding in the EL at this stage. Greenwood was putting more effort in than any other rider this season but he just wasn't ready for top level speedway. So for you suggest i'm blaming the riders is stupid. The blame lays with people who decided to bring the rule in and still charge £17 to get in. Its not value for money IMO and clearly a lot of other people feel the same. Even during the dreaded post Leigh season when Nicholls was our number 1 and we were rock bottom, we didn't have a crowd anywhere near as bad as the Eastbourne match earlier in the season. Adder 94 Posted June 6, 2014 As I have pointed out before, If I go to the Abbey it is as part of a night out, not just to watch the speedway and these days it has become an expensive night out. £17 admission £2.50 programme £20 cider (5 pints x £4) £20 taxi fares to and from the stadium ---------- £59.50 As I am nearly always out socialising on a Friday and Saturday as well that is an expensive hit before the weekend has even started. The R/R when a rider pulls out during a meeting gives all those below the injured rider a chance to take his rides. North is 5th in the Swindon averages meaning the reserves only could take his rides. With Greaves out, Worrall could only take 7 rides in total. It was a long drawn out one, but only due to the accidents - 3 quite big ones. I didn't think the crowd looked great, but I've seen and expected lower. I'd say there was 1000 just about last night. Total intent imo Totally agree , there was a crowd of us on the back straight and we all expected Doyle to be excluded. We also had a very good view from where we were.
