Gemini 4,894 Posted August 11, 2014 Hope this meeting goes ahead if only for the sake of the U.K's biggest travelling fan at the moment - Sir Lunchalot over from Australia. Wasted journey up to Newcastle on Sunday, following Leicester on Saturday night, and I know he is heading for Belle Vue today. Fingers crossed.
Midland Red 2,383 Posted August 11, 2014 Depends with Howarth as will be his first meeting back with bees after being out a while with injury. We will need a good all round team effort. Has Hansen rode at Belle Vue before? Has Hansen RIDDEN at Belle Vue before?

mdmc82 2,878 Posted August 11, 2014 Weather wins again. Always the way that its been beautiful weather during our 3 week heat wave and no speedway. Once it's back it decides to rain. This could have been a great meeting with 2 full teams for a change. Do Belle Vue have any spare Mondays leading up to cut off date?

Silver Cheetah Snr 113 Posted August 11, 2014 Best thing we can go for is a double header on the 1st of September. Will save a load of money in Diesel.
Rob B 1,267 Posted August 11, 2014 Not surprised. The rain from yesterday would have filled the drains on centre green so no where for any rain to go today but stay on the inside of the track. Just got back to reddish and it's still pouring down, and sky is black, definitely right decision to call it off
speedybee 295 Posted August 12, 2014 (edited) Was in bright sunshine in the afternoon walking around the Macclesfield area and you could see the dark clouds over the city. Then drove up to North Yorkshire in brilliant sunshine all the way. Unlucky Manchester! Edited August 12, 2014 by speedybee
OveFundinFan 4,150 Posted August 12, 2014 As speedybee above, I am in Chester (about 40 mile west of Manchester), weather forecast was rain coming in about 2pm, it was lovely sunshine all day and evening though a bit windy. Was surprised to read BV was cancelled, but weatherwise it can be completely different 4 miles away never mind forty.
mdmc82 2,878 Posted August 12, 2014 Think promotors are going to need to leave rain offs till late and fans be understanding of that if they want fixtures completed
SCB 15 Posted August 12, 2014 Think promotors are going to need to leave rain offs till late and fans be understanding of that if they want fixtures completed Why? Promoters should stop squashing fixtures into August and Septemeber. We get this crap every season. Its another of the problems with the sport and another of the reasons the top guys won't ride in the UK.

Its another of the problems with the sport and another of the reasons the top guys won't ride in the UK. Probably caused more by Sky shortening the season because of the play offs
