Wolves V Lakeside Mon 20th April

Not sure even the mighty PK's powers stretch quite that far...

Interesting typo wasn't it?

Peter York?

Seriously?

Another indication the promoters are seriously losing their way. How are you going to attract any form of younger audience with Peter York presenting?

Personally I'd want an announcer who knows his stuff and is able to connect with the terraces. If he's 21, fine. If he's 75, also fine. But what does one do when the 75 year old bucks the kicket? Sooner or later they'll run out of living options.

You can't win with some speedway fans. Belle Vue had a new trackside announcer on Monday and some fans were on his back straightaway. Perhaps they forget that most people starting a new job need time to settle in. Time will tell if he is any good but not immediately after his first match.

I saw Peter York at the Wolves, Belle Vue match but assumed he was just standing in.

Watched the replay on TV and for the the first time ever I think it was actually better watching on TV than being their live.At the track the racing didn't seem up to much, the atmosphere non existent and now to top it off we have Peter York in residence. The group I stand with even questioned this week if we should all meet up and do something else on a Monday night as the main reason we come is to meet up and socialise,I can't ask the others in the group as they stopped coming a long time ago.Credit to Sky it looked ok on the TV helped along with Pearson positivity although maybe he overdoes it telling us how great it is every five minutes.

Thought the racing was okay tbh. How can you tell how the atmosphere was over the telly?

As for Peter York, he stands in for porkie not is in residence. I'm not sure I can cope with him every week.

Enjoyed last night's meeting - it wasn't the greatest but had enough in it to keep me interested..

If only Sky could deliver similar week in and week out...

Anyway, it was much better than that shambles in Warsaw on Saturday.

BTW, I have to agree with BWitcher, the poor track and lack of starting gate didn't call for a walk out by the riders..

I would be most interested to hear Bomber's views on this..

It would have been similar to the character played by Henry Fonda in the film '12 angry men.' He was the only juror who considered the accused (track) not guilty.

A terrible presenter remember him at Oxford in the Nielsen days, remember him commentating on the last lap of a race really annoying is he not a pensioner ? or is it a job for one of the boys.!!

He's not so bad these days as he doesn't commentate on the last lap (or two) of races. I've got quite used to him at Coventry this season with David Hammond in the commentary box.

Well, he's given his views now and agrees with the meeting being stopped, but he would say that wouldn't he?

Of course all the riders are going to stick to their story now.

Hence the meeting lasting an hour until they all agreed to do so :)
