mickthemuppet 976 Posted September 24, 2015 Scott Nicholls fell on the first lap and was gestulating to the referee that the race should be stopped. Can you possibly believe that the referee could imagine a re-run due to first bend bunching. I would think that it all went so well with no re-runs and no injuries but a very mediocre final and not much excitement all night. . Nic Covatti led from the first lap and won very easily by about 50 yards
SPEEDY69 1,275 Posted September 25, 2015 final race devalued due to inept ref. Nicholls had to lay it down due to someone out of control in front of him - amazed they stayed on. Would have been a good batlle between King, Wilko and him otherwise. Some tired looking riders at the end.
dontforgetthefueltapsbruv 10,706 Posted September 25, 2015 I thought the qualifying heats were good value and certainly more competitive that the last couple of years. The final was spoilt by the ref not ordering a re run. Scott performed a superb lay down in order to avoid what couldve been a disasterous incident. Overall a decent meeting to end the year. JamesB 109 Posted September 25, 2015 Agreed. Having only just moved back to the Ipswich area late last year, this is the first 16 lapper I have seen for a while. I thought it was an enjoyable meeting with some good competitive racing in some of the heats, normally provided by Nico doing his normal trick of missing the gate and then charging round the wide line. That boy really is worth the admission money and hopefully we'll see him back next season.
Pob 545 Posted September 25, 2015 In the final Doolan was all set for the win was looking very smooth . Had moved up to 2nd place on track and looked comfortable until his bike started to slow end of lap 15. Ended up being passed and crossed the line 5th I think
TheScotsman 2,484 Posted September 25, 2015 Are the engines of today really able to cope with 16 laps? Sounds like they'll end up in the knackers' yard. Hope Scotty N. wasn't using one of his play-off bikes!!
Blackadder 280 Posted September 25, 2015 If they can do 16 laps in this meeting, why do some riders refuel after an unsatisfactory start, thereby delaying a meeting?

Tom Thumb 81 Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) If you only fill the tank for 5 or 6 laps you would have to re-fuel (less fuel = less weight) plus they fit bigger tanks for the 16 lapper . Edited September 25, 2015 by Tom Thumb
jenga 2,998 Posted September 25, 2015 (edited) If they can do 16 laps in this meeting, why do some riders refuel after an unsatisfactory start, thereby delaying a meeting? bigger fuel tanks supplied by chris louis for the meeting. maybe it should be the norm at all meetings , therefore saving time etc.. sorry tom thumb, didnt see your post. JamesB 109 Posted September 25, 2015 They change to larger fuel tanks before the 16 lap final which are supplied specially for the purpose by Louis. Having said that, the Consolation final is over 6 laps, so a standard tank is capable of 6 laps.
