Swindon 2016 - A New Era Starts...we Thought..

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately that's not true. Dogs aren't even allowed to be in the car park now let alone enter the stadium. Used to love our trips to Swindon, staying in a Travel Lodge for a couple of days. Cotswolds Wildlife Park on Wednesday , up to the top of the Uffington White Horse on Thursday to wear the dogs out before Speedway. No more.

Gem if i were you i would ring the stadium and get conformation, then if the car park hitlers say no then you can quote them differently.

Dogs are more than welcome at Poole, so long as they are on a lead.

You've got more chance of Stevebrum riding for you than Emil.

let me confirm that Coventry have more chance of signing Emil than me!

Enough to cover their costs?

Let me know how you get to see clubs' profit and loss accounts.........

What's that to do with the club's profits and losses?

The comment I replied to (even tho it was a tongue in cheek comment) was that top riders didn't bring more people thru the turnstiles which Emil proved the opposite with crowds not seen since the play offs - points made by promoters who Coventry travelled to at the time.

Promoters make money most of the time. I don't need to see their accounts.

No need to ring, I can confirm the gestapo will not allow dogs in. One was bought in a couple of years ago and all hell broke out. They used to allow dogs in and I have no idea why they have changed their minds.

I don't know why they changed their minds either. We knew dogs weren't allowed in the stadium but as they were shattered from running around all afternoon they would be quite happy to go to sleep in the car, which they've done many times before. We paid the fee and the 2 stewards made a fuss of them, but then got stopped at the next Fort Knox base and told we weren't allowed to park the car with them in but could go to a lay by up the road. No way were we going to leave them somewhere out of sight. Anyway all irrelevant now because how things are these days with dogs being stolen I'd never leave them in a car with the windows open even though the alarm would be on.

Yep you are right Mike. One phone call to the stadium was all it took to get my misses in, as long I keep her on a lead of course!!!!

It would still be worth a phone call to the stadium just in case the car park mafiosa are using their own 'initiative'?!

I'm sure every time I've been to the Abbey - and other stadia too - there have been quite a few dogs around!!! :D:wink::party:

I suppose that could be the case as the head of the car park mafia is a bit of a dick head. Ask them and if they say no ask why they allow dogs at Poole and not Swindon. If they do say no I would ask about leaving them in the car.

We spent about 15 minutes arguing with him because we had booked 2 nights in the Travel Lodge especially to watch the Swindon v Coventry match but in the end we got escorted out. Unfortunately for him he didn't take us right to the gate and Ray made a wrong turning after he'd gone and we ended up somewhere at the back of the stadium with a load of vans. Result ~ we saw the match and the dogs had a good sleep. No harm done. Well, apart from Coventry losing I suppose ~ I can't remember but they probably did. Can't have been as bad as the match after one of the Cardiff G.P's though as that sticks in my memory as one of the Bees worst ever performances. :o

It is strange about no dogs at Swindon as you often see the ref come in with their guide dog. :D
