Islander15 1,065 Posted June 16, 2016 Hardly clogging up the league, there'd be 12 at the very most and that's if all teams decide to use a foreigner, also there'd be 72 Brits, that's lots, compared to the amount of British riders actually available to come through, as I said before "I'd prefer to see good racing of Brits and (some) foreigners rather than bad racing of only Brits, and that's why the crowds don't come" How much NL racing do you watch? It's not bad racing with Brits only. Plus one foreigner per team wouldn't make any difference to the standard of racing because they're only in 4 heats per meeting and the best rider often gates to win anyway!
arnieg 3,661 Posted June 16, 2016 The real problem is that once you have a 'one foreigner' rule it makes it easier to move to two and then three. Moving in that direction would make it increasingly difficult for the likes of Buxton to compete, and less attractive for EL and PL teams to run junior teams. In the long term that would mean a smaller league and even fewer opportunities for Brits (of any age).
