Berwick 2017 50th Year

Recommended Posts

He may be averaging more than his 4.00 average but you have only been allowed guests up to his 4.00 average & not his current 5.79. That should tell the story.

I see Sparks123 point.

Scunny had part of the team awarded their new averages but those who had not completed 4h 4a maintained the original figure.

The Scunny change wasnt like for like either with Nielsen on 5.5 and Wallner 4.

Berwick have done the same as Scunthorpe & made changes when 3 riders averages changed.

Morris 8.97

Bridger 6.26 (new average from 7/5)

Doolan 7.26 (new average from 7/5)

Howe 6.72 (should be less due to year out injured then retired)

Etheridge 4.00

Gappmaier 4.00 (not completed 4H 4A yet)

Payne 2.61

Total 39.82

None of the Scunthorpe rider who hadnt achieved a new average yet were averaging more though, they were all going to drop, so Scunny would have actually had a little more to play with.

As for guests, it's not relevant. Different rules.

If the average isn't going to get lowered when redeclaring then it shouldn't get increased imo

Could be a bit of an embarrassment if they don't get this new team ratified after they have announced it.Still,we're getting used to embarrassments this year anyway I suppose. No meeting till Saturday so would it not make sense to check all allowed by BSPA then announce it and, if not, then still time to sort something officially, announce it and nobody any the wiser.Onwards and downwards.

Auty was on 7.01 & scored 8 in his 4th Home to increase to 7.31 & Kerr was on 5.98 & scored 7 in his 4th Home to increase to 6.30 so probably were, just.

As for the use of guests, I am aware. It is just that some posters are saying that if they make a change for Gapp, it should be based on his current average.

Okay excuse my ignorance but why should Gappmaier's average be changed when he has not done the required amount of meetings. (7 Matches)

Something to do with a mickey mouse outfit running the sport in this country making things up as they go along assessing averages to riders who have not ridden 4h & 4a.

There incompetence is staggering next they will be assessing riders to a 13 point average , oh wait.

Because the limit is 40 or changes need to be like for like.

Howe is higher than Carr so new declaration needs to be under 40 as not like for like.

With Gapp on a 4 it fits but with his true average to date Berwick effectively building near to 42 gaining nearly 2 points.

It not being changed it is being used to calculate the whole team, and my understanding of the rule is to stop teams (and I don't mean Berwick in this instance) having a rider miss a meeting so his average doesn't go up, when others come down and then make changes. It just so happens it applies to Berwick and as previous posts states, it allows an anomaly for Berwick to build to nearer 42.

It all comes back to restarting the rolling averages and having new "real" ones after 4H 4A

I applaud the club for making this decision, cant have been easy but results and scores dont lie. Sadly Liam has found his place in the top five a bit of a struggle this season and his scores have been poor, the club have giving him time to improve but sadly there was no sign of that happening and IMO even a drop to reserve wouldn't have made much difference. Hopefully for Liam he can get his scores and his confidence back at Birmingham and come back stronger next season, on what should be a very attractive average.

Reading a lot of the recent posts regarding Gappmaier average for redeclaring a new team. The rule being 4H/4A matches which Dany has not completed. Suggestions that his 3H/3A average should be used are nothing short of farcical. Berwick have had a terrible start to the season and are firmly rooted to the bottom of the league, despite this crowds at Berwick have been very good thus far. With this in mind the Berwick promotion have made changes to the riding line up to try and get results and hopefully keep the crowds coming back. In recent times there has been instances of clubs benefiting from riders missing meetings (dodgy airport burgers, no flights back, bizarre European meetings) which have resulted in riders scoring well in false positions in there teams and even ending up in Championship winning teams. For the best interest of the sport Berwick should be allowed to track their revised line up and for once the BSPA won't have it in for Berwick Bandits

Yes we have been poor, yes give us a break but feel sorry for us? Don't think so. For far too long the BSPA have had some sort of agenda against Berwick. Wouldn't even up for discussion if we were discussing the same issue about some other clubs
