Edinburgh 2017

Recommended Posts

Surely the intention was to assist young British riders to get a leg up in their own country, sadly they cocked it up by allowing manipulation

Yeah 30 year old young riders.

Come out of hibernation now our team is complete. My wee opinion on them.

Masters - Shud end season around similar average very solid and dependable home and solid scorer away.

Pickering - Seen him race in last season aus champs and certainly gave his all but was bit wild. If he's stuck in team all season will struggle but hopefully drop to reserve where he can take some easier rides. The potential is there.

E Riss - Honestly believe he can achieve near 8 avg very focused and a double world champ (albeit longtrack) shows he's a winner.

Clegg - Unsure of him, at home will score well but can be inconsistant. Needs to score away looked very amateurish at times.

Wells - Most excited to see this guy in team always enjoyed it when he guested against us. Always tries and a dependable scorer.

M Riss - Reckon he could be a very good scorer at reserve hopefully maintain his average in team. Ended last season well and came across rated better than Erik.

Davey - really hope he can get a good run under his belt never be the best but should maintain his 3 avg.

Overall a good team at home thanks to our track but will take beatings away. Top 4? ....I don't see it but top half of the table.

Roll on 2017 and happy to year to all.

Yeah 30 year old young riders.

Totally agree, another part they just got wrong.

Why not simply have 2 British riders resident in the UK for 90% of their life

No7, being under 21 and protected for season to remain at No7 for entire season

No 6 being British of any age resident in UK again for 90% of their life, either protected or can only be replaced with the equivelent British rider.

Why should the employment status in Speedway be any different from other jobs or sports?

Given that your suggestion would further reduce the availability of potential signings, you would probably end up with the "favoured few" demanding financial rewards that do not reflect their actual ability.

The clubs with the financial clout would get the best, and the rest would be scrambling to sign overpriced wobblers.

Control the wage structure, and heavily fine promotions who abuse it. Big big changes still needed, if they play on tinkering at the edges, you, me or anyone else will not have speedway before long.

Do you really believe this would be enforced??

Also you have not answered my original question, namely:-

"Why should the employment status in Speedway be any different from other jobs or sports?"

In a real world, and we were staying in the EU, it would probably classed as restrictive practice. However the nation has voted to leave the EU, that alone will probably blow employment rules out of the water. The way the BSPA is set up is essentially a private club, and it's membership have to obey the club rules laid down, in other words they are a rule to themselves, and can generally do as they wish, excluding any normal employment rules, as they have done and are doing. The only control set is on immigration where a visitor to the UK must obey Visa rules set down by the State, which cannot be overruled by the private club.

Good luck to the lad, apparently Jye Etheridge has told Josh that Edinburgh is a great club to sign for, he will be given plenty of time to develop, he won't be put under any pressure to score points, in Sam Masters a great captain and fellow country man who will be behind him 100% . Lol

I giggled at this, there team this year is as threatening as a junkie with no arms
