Eastbourne 2017

Recommended Posts

Riders have been missing these meetings across all three leagues for years. I don't remember any receiving a ban though. There has to be some sort of sanction on riders not turning up. Their actions have devalued these events, especially at the top level.

From the 2017 regulations

19.9.4 It is mandatory for riders to appear in the NDL 4TT, NDL BP and NDLRC; riders will be suspended from their next 2 Home Meetings in contravention, subject to MC confirmation.

At least that explains that Eastbourne arent purposely being penalised in terms of Knight missing home meetings. I assume therell be no pairs or fours to see if there is consistency.

Consistency and any bspa rules don't normally go hand in hand, so probably won't be used again.

That season has unfortunately proved that.

I should imagine they will rest Powell and use a guest for Knight at Arlington, and use Kemp and Edwards at reserve both legs.

Now that is imaginative.

I'm impressed, I hope they are listening to you.

Very, very , very impressed with Tom Brennan last night. Came within a couple of feet of getting under Adam Roynan 3 times but couldn't quite get enough speed to be first into next bend so switched outside on last bend for drive and beat him to the flag by a wheel. A couple of rides later gated poorly against Josh Bailey and Steve Boxall but came under Boxall on lap three and held it. Great Speedway from a terrific prospect.

If Plymouth had shown a bit more fight last night they could of pulled off a shock. The delay with the paramedic played into the eagles hands. With the wet stuff closing in I would have settled for 11 heats before the start. The crowd was poor, but understandable considering the awful weather.

Thanks Jayne, but why penalise the club or is there a rule that says the club is responsible to ensure that riders turn up for individual meetings?

If not then the sensible thing would be to give the club a guest facility in that situation for the banned rider regardless of whether he is no 1. The track specialist argument does not hold up because it is home meetings and no rider of the same average should score better than the man that rides the track all season.

As regards the incident itself from what I have read I have some sympathy for Jake. He was at Belle Vue on the Saturday and would have stayed overnight somewhere to be at Leicester on Sunday rather than driving back to Norfolk through the night and then setting off to Leicester after Lunch . No chance to get his machinery sorted and he even had to be left out of the team due at Cradley the following Wednesday so what was he expected to do. With hindsight he should have turned up and used his second bike for a lap or two before it packed up and then had to retire, that way he would be out of trouble and could collect his travel expenses into the bargain.

He was probably gutted to miss the meeting because what better than to stop off on his way home from B Vue and pick up 7 or 8 points at least and continue on home with an extra pay check.

in hindsight he shouldn't have been so honest . it would have been better to have kept quiet and given the 'my van has broken down on the way' excuse 2 hrs before it was due to start .perhaps the powers that be would prefer deceit .

why not, the sport is full of deceit.

Far too much of that legal manipulation occurs. Its bad enough with them picking a different number 6 each week.

Even if Plymouth had shown fight they would not have won over after 15 heats at Arlington.

I agree, but they threw in the towel too early.

What happened to Boxall and Compton to make them withdraw anyway?

Yep, that was what was announced.

All a bit of a strange end to the meeting really.
