Uluru 80 Posted July 26, 2018 Isn't the plan for the Aussie GP to return in 2019, hopefully at Adelaide Showgrounds (with Ipswich still in the mix)?

Isn’t that thanks to the EU?Remember plenty of road signs with EU flags on them probably saying the building of the road is funded by the EU.You should be made to pay a toll to use EU roads once you are out lol

And hilariously this is all supposed to depend on receiving funds from local government to finance the operation. When you read up on the goings on with Ipswich Council .... I imagine that you could find the Burghers of Togliatti to be bastions of probity in comparision. Edited July 26, 2018 by Grand Central

Even aside from the funding, Ipswich is quite a small town with few facilities or things of touristic interest, and the venue itself is several miles away from Ipswich out in the countryside. There's no public transport there, I think only a junior speedway track currently exists, so presumably the plan would be to build a track on the infield of the motor racing circuit. However, the configuration of the stands would be terrible for viewing.

ARTICLE in SS this week by our long-time Australian correspondent Peter White .... pessimistic rather than optimistic. Would require state funding. What might help is if New Zealand also come to the party. Two events on consecutive weeks would make a lot more sense. Rumour has it that now Bill has secured the future of Western Springs as a motorsport venue he could be open to the idea.

But you've inadvertently just pointed out the benefits of supporting the development of foreign infrastructure - allowing British speedway fans to get to GPs in a timely fashion to help enrich a British company, who in turn order programmes from a certain other British company. Glad it's not my decision Having already taken a calculated gamble by putting Cardiff back to September, later than ever before, would BSI take another one by introducing another GP in this Country. Personally I`d love to see a GP go to Belle Vue and it would sell out very quickly so maybe the profits of one would be off set against the losses from the other.
