Fourentee 987 Posted December 9, 2018 Dave Goddard, whose work will be familiar to many through Premier Sport, Free Sport, match DVDs and a number of live commentaries at various forms of four-wheel racing, has just been named Commentator of the Year — from a shortlist of 10 — at the inaugural Motorsport Awards. I am beyond chuffed! King’s Lynn won an award (I think it was racetrack of the year) ahead of the likes of Silverstone, so it seems that speedway fans have been making their votes count! Congrats again, Dave, richly deserved.
screm 8,057 Posted December 9, 2018 Congratulations to Dave Goddard and Kings Lynn.
00000 1,279 Posted December 9, 2018 As much as I love King's Lynn, there is no way it is ahead of Silverstone. You are comparing oranges with apples. And who Dave Goddard? Will all respect, he is hardly a household name. I think these awards are badly flawed.

Fourentee 987 Posted December 9, 2018 (edited) Dave Goddard’s work will be familiar to many through Premier Sport, Free Sport, match DVDs and — no, actually, I think I may have mentioned that already. Edit: In answer to Richard Weston. Edited December 9, 2018 by Fourentee
brandonmole 85 Posted December 9, 2018 Badly flawed indeed ... where were the other speedway commentators placed?!

Edit: In answer to Richard Weston. Never heard of him. Total mystery. What's Premier Sport What's Free Sport? They are not on any TV channels I get.

Dave Goddard 356 Posted December 9, 2018 How about maybe just being pleased that someone involved in your sport has been recognised by the wider motorsport world?

Fourentee 987 Posted December 9, 2018 3 minutes ago, Richard Weston said: Yes - no sign of those channels FreeSports is on ch95 for me; its website also suggests ch64. It is, as the name suggests, free to air and broadcasts a lot of live Polish and Swedish speedway with Mr Goddard commentating. It would, IMHO, be well worth a retune to pick it up. Premier Sports requires a subscription. Don’t know if you take Speedway Star; there was a feature during the season on Dave.
