Wee Eck 703 Posted September 30, 2021 33 minutes ago, Wardey said: In its basic form…it will hold money (donated by fans) for the purpose of the speedway club. The speedway club can request funds and must give a purpose and sufficient rationale for the funds. The Trust can also have a say in what the funds are to be used for. A trust can be set up in whatever way the initial contributors, also know as the settlers, decide, by way of a trust deed. Thereafter, the trustees have the sole power to ensure that monies are spent according the deed. The deed should say how trustees are appointed and how they can be removed. So, the above comments really only define how a supporters’ club operates but could also apply to a trust as long as that is how the deed is written.

Regards John So is this trust fund for Newcastle speedway here and now? Or is it for later to put towards a new venue, which really is no longer needed as Newcastle speedway has not closed and is still running at Brough Park. Thanks

Thanks As I said earlier nothing is off the table and everything will be open to debate... there is more than one idea floating around out there on how we should move forward and ultimately if this gets off the ground how it will work and where it will go will be decided upon by the majority... you will need to come to your own view on that and see if you support it... we are if nothing else a democratic society... Newcastle has been saved by Rob for the moment however there are issues surrounding the venue that are well known... the sport is in difficulty for various reasons... and Rob has new backing for now but what happens if that position should change... We all got one almighty scare after the Birmingham meeting as the club had technically gone and an awful lot of fans wanted to do something... anything... that might throw the club a lifeline... what happens if we end up in the same position two or three years down the road... So will it just be a beefed up fan club... a trust with firmer guidelines... a charity or charitable trust to save on paying tax on donations or will it be something different again that offers the sport a future for years to come... or do we do nothing and trundle on as we always have done with the Sword of Damocles hanging over our heads... Attend the meeting air your views... see what is said and what the proposals are and see if there is anything you feel you could sign up to.... there is no pressure either way... nothing ventured nothing gained... Regards John If it isn’t then please enlighten. I know Trusts can operate differently pending on circumstances and wishes etc. Unfortunately I won’t be there, I would like to, but I live in Glasgow, so logistics would be an issue, especially when the bar is within easy reach lol. I am keen to donate and contribute, and I am on all the necessary social channels for the club and look forward to hearing the next steps and outcome from the meeting. Keep up the good work THJ

Thanks I'd totally disagree that a new venue is not needed, it's desperately needed, but would guess its not financially possible atm, a new venue would open up many new revenue streams for the club

Ghosty 500 Posted October 3, 2021 One way local business & better off supporters could help clubs like Newcastle & Birmingham survive would be to own the air fence, tractors, graders etc. These would be available for the season BUT remain in the ownership of the "Club Guardians" I do think there are business's & supporter's willing to get involved in this way who would not just hand over a couple of grand into thin air!
