They had no choice if they wanted to continue.. And, maybe, the TV deal could also have been in jeapordy if they didnt move up? GiveusaB 1,145 Posted January 17 I can understand everyone's panic/concern....but as a 'regular' attendee, one can only sit and wait..... We have 2 people running the Club who are 'by' previous team selection/s not as good as other clubs (pretty poor in fact... I thought the inclusion of Ermolenko/Adams, was to address this...but as a so called fan, I'm still not clear whether Sam is having any input in to the Team?) However, what they lack in knowledge of what a good/competitive team looks like.....they make up for it, with their commitment and enthusiasm to keep going ! So a third of that is about £650 a point, let’s just say Artem scores 10 points then £6500 plus extras (flights, mechanics etc) comes to £7500 a meeting £7500 divided by £25 entry fee = 300 people through the gate just to pay for Artem and that’s before all other costs, the other 6 riders plus stadium hire etc. But that then got me thinking there is no entry fees when riding away so that’s another £7500 on the above assumptions so you’d need 600 people per home meeting to cover home and away costs for a number 1. Speaking from experience I watched an understrength Panthers side for a couple of months last year getting battered by 20+ every week and you have to be a real die hard fan to keep turning up every week knowing what's about to unfold before Heat 1 even takes place. Difference between Peterborough and Birmingham is Buster had punters on strings to a point where they was always going to turn up whilst at Birmingham I can actually see fans walking away after a few months if they don't put a competitive side out because they already struggle with crowd levels. I hope Birmingham don't go under mid-season but it's looking bleaker with every passing week, Couple of big signings would change that but it's looking less likely the longer it drags on. They've started work on the track and it looks like a whole new load of shale has been laid Terry is back and I have no doubt that we will have a great surface for racing...even if it is a bit of a 'leveller' ! Which is why winning at home is ultra important... And "top riders" are often the ones missing when teams ride away... Agreeing to a meeting date knowing your big earner will be elsewhere, and planning to bring in a cheaper track specialist, is all part of the rich tapestry of UK speedway.. Maybe the BSPL should have taken up the offer of WBD buying into the promotional rights of British Speedway, all would be a drop in the ocean to grow a domestic series that feeds riders into Poland and/or the SGP series, obviously Poland didn't want the WBD cash but the UK should! It is a lot of money but you think Dudek was touting himself around, there was talk of £6k per meeting but it was £3k per meeting (£6k figure was for Home/Away) but the flights etc. were on top but flights are pretty cheap nowadays but guess it all adds up If it was me choosing/negotiating the last two rides, then all roads do point to Artem Laguta, he would ride in the UK in 2024 for the right deal and that's not always about money, and I would probably look at Anders Thomsen or Rasmus Jensen, can't remember which one but one was looking at a UK ride last year but it didn't quite happen Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
