What are the requirements for a visa?

Is it different for footballers as they seem to have no problem.

It takes time. Footballers are normally signed subject to international clearance and visa being issued.

What about the ones that come over short term at short notice ie Champions league, like tonight,do they get a different visa?I don't understand it all really.

Shambles from Brummies. Press release was premature. They must be desperate to have done that without noting he still needed a visa.

It seems Birmingham might have applied for the wrong visa, invitational or the same one which allowed Freddie to ride in Charles Wright's Testimonial and Peter Craven Memorial at the start of this season. I am no expert on visas however.

If it's anything like last season riders were coming over on visa allocated to other clubs, I'm not sure how it works but I'm sure Laguta came over on a visa that Plymouth had to complete!!

Even when fast fred is here, we still need another heat leader, if the main man has the money go get Robert Lambert before Ipswich does or Martin Vaculik he was brilliant in the GP tonight.

The final results of the poll are in and it's a goodbye to Mr Pawlicki. He shot into an early lead but it all tightened up in the end. He's down to reserve in June... could he have been a trump card?

Pawlick 45%

Cook 9%

Worrall 24%

Lampart 22%

Brum would be mad to ditch Pawlicki now he's down at 6

1. Lindgren

2. Lampart

3. Worral

4. Cook

5. Brennan

6. Pawlicki

7. Flint

Looks good to me

I think that would make the strongest seven, and should make sure they win all their remaining home fixtures.

Why would they need a Visa

They're coming here to play one match.

If every footballer needed a Visa to play a match in another country. There wouldn't be any International matches.

Also if a football team sign a player who needs a Visa. The big teams have plenty of resources to make sure it's not a long winded operation.

Also most transfers in football have gone through a lengthy process before they're announced

This is why I am asking the questions.Lindgren only has 12/13 matches to do.Apparently he needed some kind of Visa to do a couple of meetings at the start of the season,so there must be something set up for footballers too.

The players are employed by the two competing teams which are not based in UK.
Work Visa are only required if a person is to be employed/paid by a UK based entity.
Similarly, if a UK based team were to play in Germany or Spain, visas would not be require for players of that UK team.

However, in a sport like Tennis. all visiting foreign players competing at Wimbledon are required to have a valid work visa as their earning/prize money would be paid by the All England Lawn Tennis Club (a UK entity) and of course may finish up only playing in one match should they lose in the first round.

The above tennis example is similar to the reason why foreign speedway riders require a Visa is they are to be employed/paid by a UK based team.
