iris123 20,986 Posted December 21, 2023 Does the court decision today against EUFA running a monopoly have any ramifications for speedway ? Does it mean the BSPA or the FIM couldn't stop a rival set up in the UK etc Or does the lack of tracks and money mean there is alittle point in setting any rival up ? Chadster 221 Posted December 21, 2023 I suppose there is the NORA thing, which was nipped in the bud last season. The cost of hiring my learned friends to slug it out in court would surely be highly unattractive to all parties.

The ruling addressed a “pre-existing shortfall” in UEFA’s framework which it had corrected in June 2022 So yes, a new super league could now be formed but would need to have promotion/relegation to avoid falling foul of the same “closed shop”issue faced by UEFA. However, as both UEFA & FIFA would legitimately be allowed to ban clubs & players who joined a Super League from competing in their own competitions (including the World Cup) there would be nowhere for the clubs to be promoted/relegated to/from. A Super League May happen one day, but not independent from UEFA/FIFA
