You can also have the "best rider in the race" who will start odds on, deliberately coming in behind his own team mate to keep his average down, but pick up the same points money... Ahem! Of course, I meant "shepherding" a less experienced colleague around for the good of the team.....

Sadly, it's official that Danny King won't be in The Bears team next season due to the one rider over 8 point rule, It was announced at the Redcar awards do last night. He said his farewells and received a standing ovation from the supporters. It's unfortunate when rule changes force riders out of a team place. That apart it was an excellent evening, and good to see Erik there looking well.

I hate gambling, my step son is an addict and its wrecked his life. But riddle me this if we get into bed with gambling,, race fixing. I worked with Adam Shields for many years and the year he left Eastbourne for Lakeside he took a booking to guest for Greg Hancock with Reading at Arlington. Adam was on form and it worked out if Reading conceded a 4-2 in heat 7 they could bring Adam into heat 8 on a double points score. A rider had a retirement in heat 7 with a Reading rider getting a second, Adam went out in heat 8 and got the 6 points. Now, is that race fixing in the bookies eyes or as I feel, a tactical move?
