Can't imagine Stoney wanting to learn the rulebook or get involved in the paperwork or travelling needed to be a team manager. However it could make sense to use him as a kind of "Brand Ambassador" to turn up at some home meetings and do some P.R. Whether or not Workington would be willing, or think it viable, to pay him to do this, is another question. I know Stoney has done some commentary work on the Belle Vue streaming service, but that's 5 minutes away from home for him, not a 4-hour+ round trip. -

At the Edinburgh managements request, can't blame Poole for that one. But agree with your first point, far more appealing travelling from Workington to Poole as part of a tour than a one-off match. -
