  1. The last line of the Poole statement about the Sundstrom signing states 'Poole fans will be excited to watch him on the Poole shale'!! So aside from the actual signing, it seems we are to get some shale too!!

  2. No I think it was just a case of the speedway family sticking together . Sorry if whatever reason some get upset by Glasgow giving public support for another club , there's nowt queer as folk .

  3. I cannot understand the indignation on Facebook of Scott Frame (who although a co-presenter of EM TV, is not an official representative of Edinburgh Speedway), towards Glasgow publicly criticising Sports Scotland for not recognising Armadale Stadium, home to Edinburgh, as “an outdoor sport facility”. He appears to believe that this issue should be initially publicised by the Edinburgh Promotion and seems to infer that Tigers motives are more to do with themselves getting good publicity, which I consider is rubbish! Has he considered that the Edinburgh Promotion might be inhibited from entering the public fray on this issue for fear of damaging their existing relationship with their current landlord, who in effect, holds the Sword of Damocles over them? I get the feeling that Mr Frame, who does quite a bit PR on Speedway, is really a bit miffed that another colleague, namely Phil Lanning, has taken the publicity initiative here. Anyway, I welcome the Tigers support on the matter and hope that they ignore the pettiness of SF, as I reckon the vast majority of Edinburgh fans will appreciate Ian Beattie's statement

  4. So you reckon Jye will only ever get 3 rides a meeting you never seen how he came on last year at Berwick he was flying you have found a little diamond of a rider in my opinion

  7. Quite the opposite. Those hoisting the white flag and saying "Yes sir, we'll meekly shuffle off to Leicester and not cause any trouble for Brandon Estates" are the ones who are signing the death warrant for Brandon Stadium. They'll have plenty of time as the bulldozers and houses move in to say "I wish we'd put up a fight and not allowed Coventry Speedway to die". The only chance to save Coventry is to say "We won't be shunted off to Leicester. Coventry speedway belongs in Coventry". Make enough fuss so that the council daren't allow a change of use for the Coventry Stadium land, or at least force an agreement for a new stadium to be built before a change of use is granted. Maybe those fighting for Brandon won't win in the end, but at least they will be able to say "I tried, and I wasn't a Leicester quitter"

  8. Every week when I used to write the match reports for the Bears website Saying that you seem to be banging on about this a tad OTT and suggests an underlying something you have against Redcar. At the end of the day its going to be at Redcar like it or not and know one knows if its going to be a good meeting or not. PS. Wasn't 2016 at Redcar?

  9. i really cant understand the grief luddo gets ....... the daft criticism he does not team ride .... eer yes he does the lad is enigma though ... even at brough he could beat craig cook in one race and then finish last in next ........ and that's part of the frustration with him...... he has undoubtedly talent, speed and ability but at times his gating gloves become boxing gloves !. and undoubtedly hes a better rider than his away form and that's where he needs to improve I for one am delighted he's back because he is entertaining and an adopted Geordie :-) and by the way .......... luddo averages 8 (proper average inc bonus points which is how all riders measure themselves and get paid on !) and lets be fair he would probably average 9 at best cos of his gating ..... lets hope he does it this season

  11. Exactly. Even if only for business reasons Glasgow will want Edinburgh to survive as long as they can. Some folks in speedway only know how to moan sometimes.

  13. If Fricke signs as expected then a solid top end with a dynamite in Bewley in reserve. Have to start as one of the better teams and favourites for the season.

  14. I thoroughly enjoyed the Jim Airey Article. I saw Jim at Sunderland when he came, with Gordon Guasco, over from Australia to ride for us. It was obvious even then that he was potentially, a great talent as was Gordon. I look forward to reading the piece in 'Classic Speedway' when it comes out. salty - I subscribe to both 'BackTrack' and 'Classic Speedway', that way you don't miss anything.

  18. Thank you guys thats much appreciated. Like all of us we stick up for our clubs, but end of the day we are a speedway family, and when push comes to shove we back each other. Again thank you both for you kind words. It will be a long road, with many ups and downs, but i will get there. be nice to bump into either of you during the season..

  19. Stronger? Really? That's the best laugh I've had in a while Poole on the other hand - with their 3 ringers.... That's a different story.

  21. That World Games pairs at Wroclaw last year was Dreadful, absolutely astonishing they would want a repeat of that. And if they are changing the format to get a different winner, why on earth are they hosting it in Poland. Madness

  22. These are some of the comments made about the 2017 Fours at Peterborough : One of, if not the best 4TT's I've seen. Well organised, minimal delays and lovely weather. IMHO the presentation was good, the organisation was good and some of the racing was bloody brilliant. There was some awesome racing in the final so anyone who decided to stay away missed a great meeting. The last 9 heats in the final was some of the best/tightest racing you will see for a while Probably because some of the racing - particularly in the final - was just superb. That final was some of the best Ravi g I have ever seen. Just bloody brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed another entertaining fours featuring some brilliant races, especially in the final, and must congratulate the majority of riders for putting on such a show When's the last time you read similar comments about a meeting at Redcar ? The really interesting bit is that 2016 was even better.

  23. I like the look of this team Fricke and Cook can improve Bewley is an imerging talent and Worrall can add a bit more consistency. Also even though Etheridge did not score many on his visit to the Abbey he has something and will do ok at home.I did think Belle Vue might of gone for Pickering instead but Etheridge will do ok fingers crossed that Fricke kicks on this year Belle Vue need him to this side with the new pole will be exciting to watch.

  24. Sorry, I missed Parsy29's post when I was replying to one of your earlier posts, so wasn't aware of things already being put in place, thanks for pointing out the extra information I'd missed...

  25. The GPs will definitely still be on BT and it seems very likely the Premiership will be also but not confirmed yet

  26. So only 1 and a bit seasons after Etheridge was described as one of the worst second tier riders ever, he manages to get a top flight spot!

  32. Having attended a number of fours events at Peterborough - there is no reason to suggest that Redcar won't be better, the EOS track is not lightyears ahead of any track (Newcastle granted), especially Redcar.
    1 point
  33. Why would Sundstrom get a reduction? He hasn't missed any years. Being absent from Britain does not equate to missing a year. The 8% reduction applies to riders who have been out of action due to injury for an entire year.

  36. Must agree with GiveusaB. If Cradley are to attract anything like a crowd, they must have an attractive team. And the other clubs in their section of the National Trophy will also benefit. The suggestion that the promoters are only trying to "line their pockets" is ludicrous....isn't earning profit what Speedway promoting is all about ? And when that does not happen the club folds up...so please do not "Knock" profit, let's have more of it.......

  39. After about 3 meetings at Newport and his away scores at the likes of Exeter, Swindon and Reading, it was plain to see he was going far. I remember Jonas Davidson coming in for Reading that season on a 9.00 and all the Reading fans spouting he would be a better signing, ha. Nki went on to average over 9.00 in his first year, and was sensational for Newport. Was all set to sign for a second season until Wagstaff at Oxford said he wasnt gonna let him double up again which was a massive shame. I think he would of topped the averages the following season had he raced PL.

  40. Take the Michael if you like but these old classics have things like, plot, character development, strong acting and direction and screenplays written by people with talent etc unlike much of todays fare where spaceships endlessly fly through space, things blow up, dialogue is mumbled, editing is so flashy you can't tell what's happening, cars crash and brain numbing special effects overwhelm proceedings to such an extent that little is left to the imagination and every idea you may have is completely driven from your head... The Darkest Hour is good 'though...

  43. Another excellent issue. Will definitely get the sister publication to read more about Jim Airey. However, was shocked to read in the article on Norwegians that my comments about Reidar Eide and Odd Fossengen were attributed to "Sidney the Robin" rather than myself. Can't say too much as the matter is in the hands of my legal team, but Sidney getting the credit!!!!!

  44. Great to see NKI back in British speedway , but such a shame riders like Freddie , K Bjerre , Zagar etc cant be accomodated
    1 point
  45. Each to his own, I think. I have usually considered Superbikes (along with other motor cycle and motor car racing) to be tedious. Cardiff costs twice as much as any other meeting and the quality of the speedway is no better than one of our average circuits. The racing at Belle Vue is twice as good for half the price. Do it. Make it a day on the Island if you can and go to the racing in the evening. You won't regret it. Most promoters regard the BSF as a haven for stupid, ignorant, abusive trolls and treat it with contempt and derision . This one spends 5 minutes engaging with us (costing him absolutely nothing) treats us as paying fans and could get £1,300 as a result.

  48. It's definitely wrong that Freddie and I guess Bjerre haven't got a ride as riders who have always ridden here....
    1 point
  49. Spot on. It's about the same over all. The weaker clubs have gained and the top 3 clubs have dipped due to being over the limit and losing an 8 point rider. The one-over-8 rule was completely uneccesary, as proved by NKI and Vaculik coming in. There was no need to lose Lindgren and Bjerre. The low teams basically voted for themselves to be better at the expense of the top clubs. Unfair. People say it was because of cost, but Vacuik and NKI coming in show no sign of cost cutting. Somerset have signed the World Champion, so presumably could have signed anyone they wanted at number one. So why force Swindon to lose someone? Rye House indicated they wanted a GP rider, even if they never signed one, so cost couldn't have been an issue there. The points limit could have been higher this year, with the new riders coming in. A wasted opportunity to improve the strength of the league.

  50. Perhaps it would have been better to roll the SWC for 2018 and then during the competition announce the changes for an alternating SWC / SoN during the competition?
