So you're an even bigger **** than we first thought with zero regard for others. Emergency services are stretched enough as it is without having to deal with idiots like you. Going 1 mile over the speed limit doesn't land you in jail. The more you post, the more of a fool you make yourself sound, or perhaps you're just after some attention and you're making it all up. Either way, it doesn't paint you very well. Now let's get back on topic with regards to the tv deal.9 points

Put on a proper peak to the helmet for the first half of the meeting, instead of having the motocross ones that most have pointing slightly upwards. The sun has always been there at Lynn but don't recall big problems in the 70's and 80's. I would assume lots of riders these days don't drive their vans west to Somerset with the sun in their eyes!4 points

From Bjerre being injured costing us against Coventry to more recent events one fact these events cant hide is over the past two seasons we have choked twice in the away leg at Monmore.3 points

You don't have to 'elevate him above all others'! He's the World Champion so he has pretty much elevated himself above all others. Isn't that what being World Champion is?! And to have him at any event will surely generate greater positivity than if he wasn't!3 points

In 2002 saddlebow road was the home to Boston, King's Lynn stars & kids teams. To update the topic, I have just picked up a silver 1936 Dagenham speedway trophy, won by the king of the 'daggers' Frank Hodgson. It will go nicely with my original badge from the same period.2 points

Seriously this is ridiculous in a variety of sports. No one is forced to do there job as a ring girl, walk on darts girl or umbrella girl. If a lady wishes to do the job then why not let them earn some money. A couple of people who are offended, its probably no more than that, should be told to clear off and find offence elsewhere. Its getting to a time where no one can say anything about any subject in case it causes offence. .2 points

"Medium-sized insectivore with protruding nasal implement." I've done "C" and "D." "Big blue wobbly thing that mermaids live in." - "C" I'm quite pleased with my definition of "dog" for "D": which is, "Not a cat."2 points

I have to agree with some others that Jason Doyle is a great marketing addition to the Benevolent Fund meeting and my admiration for him has grown over the last few years, especially to come back from the horrific injuries of 2016, when he surely would have been World Champion without them. He now reminds me, to a degree, of the great Ivan Mauger, who came to the UK as a young man and didn't make it, so he went home and practised and came back a few years later with the determination to succeed at the highest level. Doyle has shown those characteristics since his move away from Poole and the Party Scene, realising the need to put in the hard graft. What I think is very commendable is that he rode for a few months with a broken right foot, not just in the Grand Prix and World Cup but also for his league clubs in different countries, this again reminded me of Ivan Mauger, who rode for virtually a whole season with a broken scaphoid in each hand and still fulfilled all his commitments. Ask any speedway rider how hard it is to ride with one broken scaphoid, let alone two! So, Hat Off to Jason Doyle his commitment to UK speedway and hope he has a very successful year in 2018.2 points

Was speaking to Adam Shields at Cardiff about 9 or 10 years ago and he said his Uncle Dave still had a spin on Matt Shields track. Said Dave's black leathers with the yellow handprint on the bum still fitted him too.2 points

THIS thread has nothing to do with Doyle riding in the Ben meeting. I was impressed by his loyalty and commitment to British speedway and the fact that he happily tells others riders they should come here and it's not about the money. It is a huge asset to have the WC racing here. How many haver done that since 2010? Not many!2 points

By, you have a cracking memory TG. I remember it well, and I think John Branney guested for them and broke his ankle on the 4th bend. I stood toe to toe with Barney when Eddie was riding, and took the mick out of him for his wild enthusiasm. It's what fathers do but. RuffD Yes it could, but not sure he would want to travel that far, and don't forget I think he still does stox racing and is pretty good at it. Never buy a silencer off him tho.1 point

Another reasons to start at 7.30 is if there are sun delays or there are other delays at least some racing has been run starting near on 8pm is 30 mins wasted time can’t be made up - for me if the club is serious about attracting families 7-30 start time is an absolute must .1 point

In a more sensible world people would be offended by the grotesque sugar content of the drinks being 'pushed' to kids. Rather than the young women who choose to parade around in their panties for a living harming no one.1 point

Great news to hear we now have a main sponsor who has been, and is, a real long term fan. John has regularly been a meeting sponsor and has appeared on the kevlars of many home riders. So a new promoter Martin(to be confirmed by the BSPA I think), a new safe sponsor, 5 riders signed and just 2 to be signed and announced. Great progress since Sapphire left, In a very short period. Obviously the promotion couldn't publish 'no news' and I think it has been seen it has been worth waiting for. Interesting Scott Nichols is very upbeat on todays tweet, maybe that he is going to be allowed to ride for Peterborough, so we can rule out that avenue for our number 1 and concentrate on other avenues. I wonder is there is anybody riding in the Premiership, who is not riding in Poland, and could be considered for D'Uing with us. Either that or a foreign rider with previous experience in the UK who could be talked back to the UK. Just my own guesses I would add.1 point

Smallmead essentially ended-up being a traffic island with all the new development around. A dilapidated stadium was totally incongruous with the surroundings, quite aside from the lease issues.1 point

The Extraleague are sorted and should not change from the opening post. The Nice league will probably decide on the Sat/Sun fixtures in blocks of about 6 weeks- all to do with the tv requirements of Polsat and Eleven. Polsat are Sunday’s and Eleven Saturday. I would think the 1st block should be through by early March. The 2nd division clubs are talking about the possibility of streaming a match a week- whether that is free or pay per view has yet to be decided.1 point

All valid points and I'm sure Belle Vue have their fair share of shaftings in the past but to say that officialdom will ensure that you never win the play offs is a little far fetched.1 point

I WOULD imagine that they will be the tyres supplied free of charge, as Mitas did previously. But riders can use any homologated tyre at their own expense.1 point

Interesting development but should be viewed with a certain amount of caution as tyres have proved problematical in the past with legality of same and subsequent confusion resulting in protests and counter protests.1 point

See our new sponsor, BTS is named, best of look to them. Hope it puts some minds at rest.1 point

There is no new stadium. These plans are simply designed to free-up the land that the proposed new (old) stadium was supposed to be built on for housing.1 point

Gets a brief mention in this article on Torquay United's future - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42958113 Has it ever been confirmed that someone at Swindon has actually seen these parts of the stadium in the car park in Wales?1 point

The Play Offs should not be over 2 legs. Semi Finals should be 1 v 4 & 2 v 3 with the final being staged at the venue of the team that finished higher in the league. This would reward the team that did best in the league which ought to be the case.1 point

A very good night down at the stadium with an excellent turnout for the quiz with Linus signing cards and being interviewed. Matt was also interviewed and said the Gala evening is now sold out. Also the club are not only having a 70th anniversary meeting next Month, but having another in April on the exact date 70 years after the first ever meeting against Yarmouth. A fun evening, cheap admission and gates opening at 4.30 for fans to view historic memorabilia. He took the Pee out of Gary May who was preent, saying about an illegal approach from Somerset and May having the audacity to be present this evening. Light hearted. James Shanes was interviewed and said he was the fittest he has ever been and was looking forward to riding up to 4 times a week. He has sponsors in Meridian Lifts and Wessex Marine. Is vry keen to get started. Said he was disappointed in his scoring last season. Also, next week sees heavy plant at the track for 5 days where contractors are working on smoothing out the bends. Going to be like a billiards table.1 point

8.25 was Perks' 2016 NL average. He didn't ride NL in 2017. As he hasn't got a 2017 NL average, but does have a 2017 CL average, I would assume he would have an NL average of 2 x his CL. = 10.16?1 point

The great majority of riders racing in the UK are not earning big bucks in Poland and riding in the top league in Sweden. The UK is their only option to earn a living but Doyle is one of the few exceptions still prepared to commit to the UK when he can earn a very good living abroad, that's what you're missing. Most riders racing in the UK aren't in the GP's and most of those racing abroad who are in the GP's won't entertain racing in the UK but Doyle not only does but regards it as a priority, that's what you're missing. Doyle is the World Champion which makes him different to every other rider racing in the UK, that's what you're missing.1 point

Its not just about the 15 mins of speedway though is it.Its a night out where you can enjoy the racing but also if you are like me I meet up with my speedway friends(some I only see at speedway).Talk about all things speedway and all other thing ands have a good laugth etc and if I like I can have a drink. I went to the pub the other night spent about £15 on a few pints but that's all they gave me for my money other than a bit of background music. The enjoyment of the night was chatting and having a laugth with my friends etc= a good night out.If it was just about the booze i could have stayed in and drank the same on my own for a fraction of the cost.So what I am saying its not just the speedway its everything put together that gives me a really good night out at every speedway meeting I go to.1 point

Just as with Woffinden, there will always be the jealous, bitter, xenophobic haters. Doyle is a rider who has grown on me tremendously over the last couple of seasons and one who certainly has achieved far more than I ever thought him capable off.1 point

RIDING in the Ben Fund is only part of it. At Somerset on Friday he said quite plainly that he was always going to ride in the UK, it is foremost amongst his priorities, it isn't about the money, he genuinely feels that it helps him as a rider, he likes to keep busy, is always available to offer advice to his team-mates (should they want it, which isn't always the case) and has turned his life around. He also said that the injuries he sustained in Torun in 2016, including a collapsed lung, were identical to those of Lee Richardson when the talented young Englishman so tragically lost his life. Doyle could have too but, unlike Lee, he received treatment both at the stadium and in hospital far quicker. He is an impressive young man who could turn out to be one of speedway's best World Champion ambassadors, not least because he is not just prepared but determined to participate in British speedway. And hats off to Somerset who have made that possible and attracted new sponsors on the back of his signing.1 point
