Think that was the intention made by those in power who made the Friday night decision. Trouble is whilst we keep winning our away matches, the clubs who thought they would benefit by our demise didn't win between them at the weekend!4 points

I started the thread suggesting a limit of two tactical changes. Otherwise come the end of the season a team could have seven completely different riders and can you really then say that that “team” won the league? The cut off date for changes has helped but why not just say “only two changes” from the start? Swindon (or Wolves or Belle Vue) could keep the same team, finish top of the league and then lose in the final to fourth placed Poole who have used 12 different riders. It’s like buying the title rather than working hard for it.4 points

You are honestly the thickest person I've ever had the misfortune of communicating with. Someone suggested changes shouldn't be allowed which I disagree with. For all clubs.4 points

I don't agree with that to be honest, winning is not everything and personally i don't know anybody who stops going just because of the results. Also Swindon as a whole over the years there crowds have held up pretty well i think the biggest problem for me is the fixture list lack of meetings sometimes up to a month without a meeting.People then get used to not going and find other things to spend there money on often then just picking and choosing there meetings. There needs to weekly racing and the entertainment element should come before winning/losing some people are obsessed with winning i just don't get that part.4 points

Yeah like they need stewards at the speedway..what's gonna happen..someone attack an away fan with a clipboard or a flask!?..that's if u can find an away fan.4 points

This meeting will be tremendous entertainment hope rain is early and stays off after 5 so we can all see speedway at its very best.3 points

On the Speedway GB site it now shows Workington at Home v Newcastle in the KOC on July 28th. In saying that it also still shows our Friday "Home" meetings v Peterborough (Aug 3rd), Newcastle (Aug 10th), and Lakeside (Aug 17th) as well, so who knows? With things as they are, would it not be better to make the match on July 28th a Championship meeting instead, or has the "Management Committee" forbid that as well?? Seriously worried that we won't get the chance to race enough Home fixtures in before the "Cut-Off" . Looks like Scunthorpe need to win all of their remaining matches to have any remote chance to qualify having lost two at Home and only getting one point on the road so far, so perhaps there may be a few more decisions to come lol!3 points

How low has interest sunk in KL Speedway? Fans not aware the Stars are away at Leicester tomorrow- updates on up coming meetings on social media none existent whoever in charge of that needs to be shown the door . With Lambert win last night in the European Championship you’d have thought the club would be milking that for all it’s worth and up coming meetings but no - then they wonder why fans walk away - sadly can see the club is entering the usual pattern of the last few seasons let’s get the season over and done with asap3 points

According to Jon Cook in S/S;- "Our entry to the Championship was submitted that we were going to run mainly as a Friday club, with us accommodating the likes of Scunthorpe and Glasgow even though they opted to choose their race night this season This was discussed at the fixture meeting earlier this year and there were no real issues as we have been a Friday racetrack since 2007. For someone like ourselves we haven't got the availability of our venue to fulfil our fixture list if we could only run on a Saturday." The point really is that the fixtures were submitted and approved then suddenly removed half way through the season without notice or explanation. Nobody forced them to accept the Friday fixture list. They could have said no before the season started but to get half way through t the season and then remove the fixtures, apparently at the whim of a BSPA MC member is despicable.3 points

Trouble is though, that League fixture v Newcastle for August 10th has now been removed from the fixture list, as it is one of our Fridays that limit Scunthorpe and the likes of getting guests! Probably the Management Committee have a deadline in place for the KOC to even further limit the chances of the Comets getting their fixtures in by the cut-off date, so KOC it is!2 points

Unbelievable. He's one of those stupid people who makes normal people start to doubt themselves.2 points

I haven't posted much of late, as always being accused of negativity, but Jesus Christ, can the communication and enthusiasm from the club get much worse. All this talk in the off season about new body's being brought in to move the club forward, what has happened to everything. There is no interest, no motivation, no nothing, its as if they are not bothered. This must be the biggest turnoff period I can remember for a long time.. If they cant be bothered to inform fans of forth coming meetings then you cant blame them fans who turn their backs. They only have themselves to blame. NB. Many congratulations to Robert winning the other night . A truly wonderful achievement . Pity the KLS don't take a leaf out of your book and be more pro-active for a change...2 points

So, now we have a better report on our website and a complete rendition of the facts that Ritchie is a done-deal and we sadly sacrifice Mark & Max I am sorry to lose both of them but I don’t think either one could say they were riding to their full potential. The decision to change came on the back of 4 x 37/53 scores. Had we waited another week it might have been different but with Ritchie becoming available, the promotion pounced. They are running a business and are focused on winning I have already spoken about Mark so I add my best wishes to Max. A really nice guy and I hope he can get fixed up too. Such a pity the rules don’t allow his average to drop to his real average! Welcome to the Monarchs Ritchie..... Scunny last year was when my opinion changed and I hope you will be very happy at “the dark side”2 points

The Hammers' promotion can do as much to the stadium as can the Peterborough promotion do to theirs - which is nothing as neither own the venue they race at.. You are perfectly entitled to your view of the racing/entertainment at Arena - FTG is a description that appears in many, many 'updates' across a wide variety of tracks. You are right that our team is racking up good scores at home - we have a good team this year (surprise) that is also averaging an away score of 43 to 47 (again, very unusual for Lakeside) so, no surprise we see a preponderance of high scores at Arena. I have been following the Hammers long enough to easily recall away teams regularly doing very well on our 'trick' track. So, in essence, we all know your dislikes to the point that you no longer need to repeat them ad nauseum.2 points

Seriously, what I saw on the TV screen last night, despite a very interesting track there, simply another boring meeting, not much excitement although Lambert was the deserved winner. SEC yesterday, also the quality of the live pix, sub standard. On the other hand the scene with the tape troubles was rather hilarious ...2 points

so how do you invest in new equipment for next season when you get dropped mid way through this season ? max will tell em where to stick it , as will mr riss.2 points

Its a long way,,,,,,,would love a scunny win, josh and jake riding well at the minute, ill go for lakeside2 points

I would change the present day for the 70s 80s any day, you might get the odd change but all in all it was the bulk of the team year after year, you would get that bond with the riders2 points

Always makes me laugh when supporters say , hope he comes back next year and rides for our club, why the hell would they when they have just been sacked by them, i hope they say f u and go on to better things at another club like Etheridge has done, Junior2 points

Still not convinced about that. "Linus, we are bringing in Harris. Do you want to say you asked to be dropped or should we tell everyone you were canned?"2 points
-
Removing Poole from the argument (is not all about them all the time) I think there should be a maximum number of changes per season. Back in 2002 Wagstaff used twenty odd riders across the season and it was ridiculous, it was impossible to bond with most of the team as they kept getting replaced. Operate squads if need be but any more than three or four non injury changes is too many.2 points

Once again nothing on the Stars web site. Promises...promises.... Mr Brundle asleep behind his desk perhaps? Poole sign Chris Harris, we sign...Simon Lambert (again) yes I know its only a temporary thing but really, where has the ambition of this club gone? Bottom of the League with a miserable 12 points, once again it looks as if we will struggle along until the bitter end and then all the promises of a wonderful team for NEXT season will emerge. All sounds very familiar, doesn't it?2 points
-
Chris Harris should not be allowed anywhere near the GP challenge, Craig Cook is bad enough. If the FIM see sense they will promote Hampel and not Harris.2 points

The "boy" with lots of promise, turned into the man with the speedway world at his feet. Some superb races last night leading to the top step of the podium. Go Lambo Go. Match, what match, where? What team, who? KLS will soon be making Team Lineup announcements at the turnstiles.2 points

No point in targeting new audiences, or even trying to hold on to your existing ones if you don't first of all give them a speedway meeting to attend. As has been said before, what those dullards Chapman and Godfrey have done is to unliterally wipe three clubs fixtures from the already sparse fixture list , which cannot fail to hit the attendances of the clubs concerned even further. They then compound that display of mismanagement by telling the fans absolutely nothing, not even the briefest of announcements and merrily carrying on as if nothing has happened, and hope the fans wont notice. The more I think about this utter, crass stupidity, the lack of communication, and the abject short sightedness of those at the helm, the angrier I get. They are worse than useless.2 points

I've known us get 36 points with a full team in years gone by so to get that with 3 riders one could say we are progressing as a club...2 points

Feel really sorry for Mark, good luck lad and I hope you can come back to us sometime. Thanks for your contribution to Monarchs, you are a much better rider than you have been lately. I’m sure someone will snap you up2 points

Jon has stated in the past, Lakeside would only enter the Championship if they could have Fridays - any other day (excl. the odd Saturdays) would be financial suicide and see the end of speedway at The Raceway. Therefore, on the basis that we are in the Championship, Fridays were agreed. The current situation appears to be as a result of self-interest and potential abuse of power.2 points

The current plight of British speedway reminds me so much of the situation of traditional High Street shops. They had it good for decades, opening when they wanted, and charging what they wanted, totally ignoring the challenges creeping up behind them. When they finally realised that they were in trouble, the opportunity to put in the fix had passed There's no rescuing the High Street now, there might, just might, be one last chance to rescue speedway if radical action is taken now, before the shutters come down permanently2 points

I'd say that along with those things he is much fitter and leaner and has sorted his gating out after four years of sluggish starting. He is obviously happy, settled and content with his racing (all clubs) too which makes a big difference. Great result for him last night in what was a very good meeting on an excellent race track. He really is starting to look world class.1 point

If the riders concerned had done their job there would have been no changes, being 'fair' is irrelevant ...1 point

Really great to see Josh Auty back on track this year 13 double figure scores out of 19 matches pretty good.I just hope he can get a Prem place sorted again next year as he needs that.1 point

Heaven forbid that someone on a forum gives his opinion about having at reserve an ex-Leicester rider who is a good gater.1 point

Thank you for that independent view. We have all got used to Bigcatdiary's chip-on-the-shoulder rantings over the years, mostly criticising Lakeside meetings he didn't attend , as was the case last night. Unfortunately BCD is the worst type of speedway follower (I won't call him a fan ) who thinks that by constantly sniping at different fans tracks, clubs, promotions and riders, he somehow makes himself look knowledgeable and a cut above the rest of us.. In fact the opposite is true and he not only makes himself look an idiot he tarnishes the reputation of the club he purports to support, although fortunately my experience is that most of the Peterborough fans I have met area pretty decent crowd. If people don't like Lakeside or any other track nobody forces them to go and watch. I just think people are a bit odd when they just sit at home moaning all the time about meetings they never saw.. Speedway needs all the support it can get at the moment, and if a track can pull in enough support to keep afloat in these difficult times for the sport, that surely is all that matters. However, I cant let the ridiculous sleight on Broc Nicol go unchallenged. His performance last night was not because he was American or because he did it all on the gate, its because he is a talented and serious rider who has clearly worked on his game, and incidently a lot of his points didn't come from the gate.. Sheffield are lucky to have a rider of that calibre, wherever he comes from, and 1'd have him in my dream team any day.1 point

Correct, fans are giving their opinion of why so many fans are deserting the sport which they are entitled to do,as Scott rightly says they do not have any solutions, but it is the people running the sport that has to come up with the right solutions, the fans simply pay their money to be entertained. The sport is in crisis we all that, now the Promotions are starting to realise the situation, hence his blog.1 point
