  1. I Wish someone would Tippex Rob Godfreys name off the Management Committee of the BSPA.

  2. Ty has just come back this weekend probably having the captaincy on top of trying to ride a bit too much for him . To me he’s a very focussed rider who wants to the job well , can be a bit grumpy at times but I think it’s his passion to win . What I did see last night was all the boys working as a team , jeering each other up before races, helping with bikes and Ty was included . The first time at DP I’ve seen Ty coming round for applause after his rides and actually waving at the fans he seemed very happy . These guys are doing so well I don’t see the need for negative posts of hearsay with no true facts . Great to see Rene, Rasmus and Nicolai in the bar who came in to us all giving them a rapturous applause ! Well done boys that was some team performance

  3. CAN WE JUST LET THIS GO NOW, IT IS SO BORING - and yes, I am shouting. The fiasco that has been this seasons fixture list is not down to one man, one team, one promoter, one rider - almost everyone involved has been culpable in some shape or form and unless there is a massive shake up over the winter this brilliant sport of ours is going to disappear up its own tailpipe, in this country at least. I couldn't get to last nights meeting so don't know anything about any alleged incidents regarding Ty, but just find it disappointing that there is a negative post seemingly without any proof of any incident having taken place. Everything relating to the Comets should be positive at the moment with loads more to look forward to. We are in the play offs, already in one final and with another semi final to come. So come on lets all be positive, and see where it takes us.

  4. problems behind closed doors or not 1 thing is obvious weve never had a comets team that have geled and worked together as much as this years id have the full 1 to 7 back next year no problem if they all wanted to come back

  5. Just like to congratulate everyone concerned with the club on reaching our first final since 2010. That's a long time so we should all enjoy it. We should all try and encourage as many ex and new fans as possible to attend the final and lets really get behind the team. In the early stages last night i thought lady luck had deserted us but i needn't have worried. It soon became apparent that we were much the stronger. Guest Ben Barker was just sensational and fully justified his booking for Dan while we still have a facility regardless of what happened recently. All the lads made telling contributions, we looked a real solid unit without a weak looking heat on the program. Jake Allen once again caught the eye following a first ride retirement. Pulled off some stunning passes especially the pass of Rene on bend 2 when there didn't look room. Steve Worrall was solid, won well from the front but didn't offer as much when he found himself behind. Jason Garrity was well below the level he has shown in the past as was Josh Auty who unfortunately took another nasty tumble at Derwent Park. Stefan Nielsen looked to be some way off his best form following a season of injury. Gino tried while Danny looked the rider who has struggled all season. Its a tough league this. I don't know of anything that may or may not have gone on behind the scenes last night but i hope any issues can be discussed and resolved to the mutual satisfaction of all parties. I was hoping for a few more at the meeting last night and no doubt if we had been riding against one of the more passionately supported clubs many more visiting fans would have made the trip to cheer on their team in what was a nicely set up tie. Speedway at this level has financial issues and if clubs promotions and fans don't support each other then what future does the sport have. Doubling up/down put a lot of riders out of a job so talks of reducing the number of riders within thise teams lucky enough to come to tapes in 2019 will only exacerbate the relative paucity of riders . Time for astute thinking because the changes in recent years haven't improved speedway or enhanced how it is perceived by the public as a well run and entertaining product. Just the opposite if anything. Up the Comets.

  6. Great respect to danny phillips the lad knows the management dont wont him the fans dont like him yet he still turns up and does his best , last night other riders turned down programmed rides claiming bike troubles when it was clearly running young phillips just got on with it with little help that i saw from his team mates .

  7. This is the downside of Play Offs. Yes they can mean big crowds and a ‘grand finale’ but when it’s a case of deciding league titles between teams full of guests it becomes a bit farcical.

  8. To the Geordies. As your season is over may I suggest you forget about speedway for a while (much like your number 1 seems to have done already), and get behind your football team instead. Maybe you could get them to start attacking for a start, and you might see them score before Christmas. To the Comet negative posters. If you cant say anything positive now with your team having the year it is having, just don't bother saying anything at all!

  9. Yes,I don't see Tony Jackson divulging in tittle tattle with a fellow promoter, knowing it would spiral out of control like it has here sounds like bull to me, and as for proctor being unemployable that's laughable,he's guested for most of the premier league this term, and I'd sooner have a rider with a bit of fire in his belly, and loses his rag now and again so what, prefer him to the matej kus of this game whose contributions are solely based on what position he's in after the first bend

  10. the messiah of speedway should have knew/followed the rules you can't sack riders after the cut off date ,blame the messiah

  11. I've been watching Speedway since the mid 60's and Woffinden is the best British rider I have seen, might have been others who could be brilliant on their day but I've never seen one as consistently great. Not only that he is the best 1st turn rider I've ever seen of any nationality. I'd struggle to think of any riders who were FAR better and he still has plenty of time to catch those who are only just ahead of him in my opinion. As for the GP it started off badly but improved and ended up being far better than I expected. Woffinden did what only the very best can do and pulled the wins out of the hat when it really counted. Without bad luck he'll be a well deserved 3 times World Champion. He has also matured into a Champion kids can look up to, you only have to see his response to the disqualification at the last round to know that, he must have wanted to scream and shout but didn't.

  12. Seems all the top championship teams have now got riders injured - wiht Craig Cook injured last night in the SGP. All I hope is that Scunthorpe win nothing at all after all the fixture manipulation by their "promoter". Tippex him out of the Management Committee ... briliant idea. Along with the rest of the "management" committee. They need to be a bunch of independents without a vested interst in their own little business.

  13. No it isn’t. When your partner goes off with someone else then bars you seeing your child completely, most would be devastated.

  14. Not according to Craig himself on the Glasgow facebook page , he has good strength and movement in his hand and expects to be riding next week dependant on the final diagnosis. It may well be correct he is out for the season but this sounds better than last night, we shall await news on Craig.

  15. As El Adio says the team when complete has been a match for any one this season But a rider missing any time has made us so much weaker,,But although the end of season matches are not looking good for us..this team has given us great entertainment and have been a joy to support this season.......

  16. Yep. This has all the hall marks of a typical Lakeside season.Ive lost count of the times the team have a good run in the league, make the play offs or get close to them then get cut down by injuries when it comes to the crunch. Nothing you can do about it, but it's frustrating when the cookie always seems to crumble the same way. It's been a really good team to watch this year with everyone chipping in with points, and it's a team that get in well and support each other. Once Kyle went out with that wrist injury Ithough the writing was on the wall, but I woukd like to finish the season with the team more or less intact. All very frustrating, but it's just the way the sport goes unfortunately.

  17. wtf is going on here? I thought this thread was about the German SGP at Teterow. On the last few pages yous havent even mentioned it. This here is not about preferring GP or World Final, and also not about who the best ever british rider is. I guess this was one of the best racing we have seen at Teterow so far. Unfortunately it is not a proper racetrack, but yesterday proofed there is some passing possible. I enjoyed a good night of speedway. thumbs up and well done to the track staff. That rain was noones fault and i think they made the best out of it.

  18. Yep you are right...what on earth drives some people 'in the know' to input negative drivel on here........??? It's just childish stuff.....get behind the Comets 100% in a positive way pls. As for the sad geordies.....well that's what they are...

  20. I tend not to get involved in the pits gossip, he said that , he had a spat talk, all hearsay and un truths most of the time. Any way regarding the Scunthorpe meeting it was more entertaining than the Newcastle meeting on Friday, standout riders being Ben Barker and Jake Allen , the Scorpions kept it close for the first seven heats before Campton and Jensen got a 5-1 in heat 8 and slowly built up a big lead.. I thought it would be a much closer contest but Scunthorpe turned out to be a virtual 2 man team though they were not helped by falls from Auty and Garrity later in the meeting. Kyle Bickley is slowly getting there, showing a greater determination especially in the fist and second bends of the first lap.

  21. He' will not come on this forum again in my opinion I.e.) because he is arrogant and he will stick out like a sore thumb.I never liked him ever but there were others on this forum who licked his ass Shawn this Shawn that if I had my way i would feed him to the pigs.

  23. Natalie Quirk is at least as good and probably a better and more knowledgeable presenter than almost all of her male predecessors. I'll agree that most of the pits interviews are bordering on banal, but who really cares if it is a male or female interviewer? All I want is sensible questions from someone who knows what they are talking about

  24. Just out of interest how has Phillips held Godfrey at ransom? Godfrey tried to sack him after the cut off date had been made for changes I fail to see what Phillips has done wrong?

  25. Why would any Lakeside fan want to travel to Rye to watch a patched up side of 6 riders. No thanks.

  26. Anyone else notice Nigel explaining why Nicki P missed out to Lindgren for the 8th semi final, "because he had a dnf"? No Nige, it was because he scored a point less than Freddie!

  29. What goes on “behind the scenes” is between riders and management. I pay a fortune every season to see my team do the best they can and that’s what they are doing .. couldn’t really give a monkeys to be honest what the gossip merchants like your good self have to say , and for George English to broadcast to all and sundry about another team is pretty unprofessional I’m a big believer that there’s always two sides a story ...
    2 points
  30. And as someone 'in the know' you think its the correct thing to do... go on a public forum and air 'your teams' dirty laundry? What goes on between riders and management is their business! And other promoters airing other clubs business is very poor taste. This team is the best we have had for years and are doing the job they are asked. Leave them to get on with it and unless they have done something personal and disgusting to you may I politely suggest you 'butt out' !

  31. I accept that contnuity of fixtures is a good thing, but running from mid-March to the end of October is about 30 weeks and I can't see any league structure that would give that many meaningful fixtures. I'd argue that we should seriously consider starting slightly later and finishing by the end of September, but within that framework try and arrange meaningful fixtures as consistently as possible.

  34. Yep last night much better than a woeful Newcastle effort...depleted team or not it wasn't worth my £13 (old git fee).....didn't cash in on my £3 deduction either last night (yep silly old git). Think the geordies on here are stirring it big style.....can't see them running next season......

  37. Sounds like another attempt to undermine the Comets, introduce some bad feeling between the rider's to put us off our stroke.....these voices that were heard, didn't happen to have a Scottish accent by any chance??

  38. I am obviously not privy to what goes on behind the scenes but Ty has been brilliant for us on the track this year. He has probably been one of the busiest riders around and seemed to score consistently well for whoever he has guested for. I am assuming any negative comments from supporters of rival teams are firmly tongue in cheek, as he would have walked into most, if not all teams this year particularly Newcastle. At least he has always turned up unless he was been injured. Hopefully Ty will be back again with us next season, if not I am sure he wont be short of offers.

  40. Phillips is in a no win situation ((excuse the pun) he wants to carry on riding at national league level but maybe doesn't want to ride for Scunthorpe, but in order to ride national league he must ride for Scunthorpe also, otherwise he would receive a ban for withholding his services as he is declared in the Scunthorpe 1 to 7 which would also stop him riding national league . Scunthorpe made the mistake of not deselecting him before the deadline

  41. Disagree on the banal side. She's the best lead presenter/interviewer we have had for a long time (regardless of sex). She is very knowledgeable, personable and fills in those llong gaps during grading breaks with Scott really well. Tatum adds good technical knowledge before, during and after a meeting. The only issue Sky and now BT have is Pearson, he's an awful biased and repetitive commentator. He's almost gone an entire season starting virtually every race with 'here we go' and saying 'well, well, well' at every controversial incident. A couple of seasons ago Chris Louis and Tatum commentated one of the play off semi's I think, and they did a very good job.

  47. It always strikes me as odd that many of those who prefer the one off world finals, where you qualify and then it's all down to a final where everyone starts equal, prefer that the team finishing with most points accumulated over a season should win the league title and those who prefer the GP's, where the rider who gets the most points over a season wins, prefer the play offs where you qualify and then it's all down to a final where both teams start equal. Logically, you might expect those who prefer the one off world final to prefer the play offs and those who prefer the GP's to prefer the team that finishes top of the league to win the title.
