I don’t think there is any problem with Lamberts hunger or desire, he simply is as good as he will ever be and any shortcomings are down to his limitations of ability rather than effort and commitment.5 points

With you on that one Aces51, Lidsey will develop into a good rider he is someone you have to give time to.At Worky last year they showed everyone what can be achieved with the way they handled young Bickley and how he has come on in the Championship because of it.Why do some of the ground work with Lidsey then allow somebody to reap the benefit in the future patience is the word.He is suffering a bit of pressure because other riders in the team are not doing the job they are capable of doing.4 points

Oh bugger, Matt has spent thousands getting in a road grader, etc to level the base and it wasn't necessary!! Why didn't Starry tell Matt that beforehand?4 points

Dissenters ??? Do you not mean paying customers? What a disrespectful way to call paying customers - Most people have work the next morning and want to get home some people have children with them and want to get home maybe you have neither and can take your time after the meeting but for most people that isn’t the case .2 points

Nicks average is now 5.84 so 7.99 to replace him. Or 5.47 to replace Ashley, dropping Kyle to reserve Which one is best I have no idea, it depends who's available I guess2 points

Sorry Trees but I see no future and very little point in keep re-visiting Simon Lambert riding for us or indeed any team at this level. He is what he is, which a decent NL no 1 or at best a CL Reserve ( at certain Clubs). He is no better ( and no worse) than we he was as a 16/17 year old As for going in the bar afterwards, not for me as have very little interest in it and just want to get back on the road to do the 90min journey home.2 points

Elation, actually. Even the QUADROUPLE + Fours, Pairs & Individual Champion. http://www.scunthorpe-speedway.com/?page_id=2840 "I was there" are words that I can use as I have followed Scunthorpe Speedway through thick & thin at Quibell Park & Ashby Ville to the present days at the EWR. I also travelled down to Mildenhall in 2011 & down to Somerset in 2012.2 points

Many thanks for your comments and help about informing me what any mistakes and other information.. I will be added these to the new video going up on YouTube very soon. I will post the new YouTube address and amend the old one as soon as possible. I will be working on a 1976 New national League bib video and also a iconic team version with Wembley, New Cross, Southampton amongst many others I have not made these yet so it will take me a few days.2 points

Danny Halsey was going to be the next big thing at Rye House about ten years ago but he never made the jump to PL standard. I wonder what Mark Blackwell and Sam Dore are doing now.2 points

Yes... I'm one of them. I really think the Promotion missed big time this season. No problem dropping down a league, I personally prefer it, but not having any of those riders is a massive blow. Not on results...but the majority of fans had a ' connection' with those three. This year's team is 'meh'...there is just no connection imo. When a rider makes fans get excited to watch a race...run out of the bar etc, then the promotion imo should take notice. All three you mention had a positive effect on a meeting and it's enjoyment. All we want is a connection, excitement and good racing....otherwise it's just a bunch of blokes going round in circles.2 points

Simon is no world beater as he has said before. He's not one of my favourite riders but he always seems to give all for the cause when called upon.Maybe poor away but this is what you get with many riders even of a higher standard to Simon. Many people were very happy to get Cook in the side,so to allow Cook in you had to have a standard of rider like Simon.1 point

Looking forward to Sunday - the 40th anniversary of that bump going into turn three if I'm not mistaken1 point
-
At the end of the day Simon does a job for the team, when he is signed it’s to fill a gap vacated by somebody else or in this case to allow the acquisition of another rider. It’s pretty clear he and somebody else will be leaving soon so I don’t understand why people need to let into him particularly after a meeting where he has scored in every ride. Just seems a bit unnecessary to me.1 point

I would take that now.....in fact i would be happy with 2 points We have on paper easier away matches at Poole and Wolves coming up1 point

Changes have been made and whilst open to opinion, they are going to make us stronger. For weeks BV fans have been screaming change. The club have listened. As for lemon, he is doing what he can under the remit he has although I acknowledge his decision making during meetings is questionable. As with pretty much every club in the uk, BV are working in a difficult environment where decisions, and big ones, are often made above and for them. See sheffield for a case in point. Give them a break.1 point

Thanks for adding the 'away' bib of the City "Rebels". A great compilation and the choice of music adds to the nostalgia!1 point

26/07 Bradford (Postponed due to bus strike) DATE & MEETING Date confirmed as Friday, 26th July from a Speedway Star report, but no details of the intended format of the meeting were given. 14/09 Aldershot DATE, MEETING & RESULT A number of fixture changes were reported in Speedway Star 7th September, including the match at Aldershot to take place on Thursday, 19th September. This was the Rayleigh ‘home’ fixture against Aldershot due to have been staged on 14th September. Another of the fixture changes saw the SAL Riders’ Championship meeting at Rayleigh moved to 14th September and Aldershot’s Pete Mould and John Day competed in that meeting. Speedway Star had previously carried an advert for an ‘Open Meeting’ at Aldershot on 14th, but it would not have featured the team as it should have been fulfilling an away fixture before the alterations were made. It seems possible that no meeting took place, with the match to fulfil the Rayleigh ‘home’ fixture providing the Aldershot meeting for that week. 16/09 Exeter DATE, MEETING & RESULT No meeting advertised in the speedway papers, however, in the match report in Speedway Star for the meeting on 9th September it was stated that the meeting on 23rd September would be the last of the season. This might indicate that no meeting was scheduled for 16th September. If a meeting had taken place it is almost certain that Tony Lethbridge would have supplied details to Speedway Researcher. 22/09 California DATE, MEETING & RESULT Speedway Star 5th October 1957 reported that ‘speedway makes a welcome return to California’ (on October 6th). This phrase suggests that it might have been a while since the previous meeting (i.e. the California Championship two months earlier on 5th August, rather than just two weeks earlier on 22nd September). The indications are that there was no meeting on 22nd September. 06/10 California - listed as Supporters Trophy, postponed. CONFIRM DATE, MEETING AND REASON FOR POSTPONEMENT. Speedway Star (see above) stated that this was to be contested by Aldershot riders backed up by other riders associated with the club. Speedway Star 12th October then reported ‘Unfortunately we received too late for inclusion in last week’s issue the following statement from Frank Marshman: Due to circumstances beyond the Aldershot management’s control, the meeting scheduled for Sunday, October 6, has been cancelled.’1 point

Another one less to pick from....replace Danny with joe Lawlor before he gets signed up as well .1 point

Strange isn't it, he normally backs the management/MF etc to the hilt, yet on this issue they're all wrong, perhaps the star selling is a front and he's this engineering genius.1 point

Vetlanda v Piraterna attracted a crowd of 2091. Match got off to a terrible start when Michelsen lifted bringing down Wozniak and Huckenbeck clipping Wozniak`s bike- neither rode again. Artem Laguta and Zmarzlik were in a class of their own recording a paid and full maximum respectively. Zmarzlik featured in the race of the night in heat 13 when in 3rd place overtook NKI and Przedpelski in imperious fashion.1 point

Lanning was a survivor, he sorted the 1980 bonus out for the Reading Racers title winning team i believe he was personally screwed over of his own payment.??? Lanning was a great commentator and brought loads to speedway like Len Silver who i saw Sunday you have to admire both of them for there longevity in the sport.1 point

Always liked race bibs (never a fan of team suits) and the simpler ones were always the more effective in my view. Belle Vue's was always iconic and the Lion of Wembley.1 point

Just watched the Rospiggarna v Dackarna match - crowd 3102. Another bad defeat for the Hallstavik team, an EF for Doyle at the start of heat 15 ended their fight back after being 10 down. Fricke was disappointing apart from a cracking win from the back in heat 14.Magic was the star man for the Malilla side who really look as if they have turned their season around.1 point

They first used a narrow yellow border on a red background in 1974, and that lasted until they went to the chevrons in 1977. There are some pics of the 1976 jackets on the Retro Speedway gallery Wimbledon page. You know those body-colour icons that many BSF users used for their avatars? I made those! I had a freeware icon designer, and although some people made some new icons, the vast majority were mine. That was tough trying to find exact designs and colours, and there are still a few I don't know. Of course, pre-1970, they didn't change the bloody things every year (except for teams like Nelson and Doncaster)... Steve1 point

No away points = no play offs so whoever they bring in at number seven will be worth the risk.1 point

I'm not sure that Broc coming in at this stage of the season ,will do better than Simon overall. Simon has a 4.67 average at the AFA, but 0.00 from is 2 away meetings. So 3.11. Broc surely would be better away though So they might be thinking of a few extra away points will help the cause1 point

After the Stars thrashing of the Aces last night - and in so doing cementing their reputation as the top East of England Premiership team - I don't think Aces are 'nailed on' at all. As for Ippo, lets see what happens when their free scoring reserve goes into the top 5. Play-offs will be Swindon, Poole, Ipswich and Kings Lynn imo.1 point

Absolutely disagree. Watch some meetings on youtube from Bell Vue as an example from this country. Then watch some stuff from Poland and then thirdly the GP’s. That will show you just how possible passing is on a ‘smooth, well prepared track -even a grippy one’ . The problem at Berwick is the shape, always has been, very little to do with the bikes.1 point

Agreed. Can not see BV doing big changes now. As you said should of been done weeks ago. Another example of how poor Lemo is as TM and how badly the BV club is run = Lazy and with NO ambition. Except the Colts!1 point
