So far in this century, like a cat with 9 lives I've managed to survive Mad cow disease (not the 80's version, the new one from the middle of last year) Sars (another coronavirus) TB Ebola a Flu pandemic Possibly Brexit - although that might be premature. and probably more that I cant remember. All of which according to the press were likely to result in vast swathes of people dropping dead worldwide. (possible exception for Brexit but I thought it was funny) As a child of the 60's there are another 39 years before that where I was fortunate enough to survive all sorts of certain death such as lead paint, wrapping asbestos string around exhausts and working on asbestos brakes, walking through a workplace without a bright yellow vest on, lifting more than 25kg all on my own and so on. So no matter what the press and internet tell me I'm going to keep riding my luck and carry on just as I am without giving a toss5 points

What Speedway wouldn't give for a "large public gathering"!!! No danger in Speedway being effected in that way... I'd be more concerned on how much of the fan base is left after this lergie has been and gone4 points

Exactly. The better the track prep the better the quality of racing, whether that’s NL, CL or PL.3 points

One should also consider that the vast majority of those 2% had pre-existing health conditions too.. some even died from other causes but happened to have Coronavirus at the time..3 points

That's why PL Promoters suddenly interested in Junior PL League - hoover up any 16 year old who looks half decent as an asset to hedge against any sudden Pritti induced culls on permits!2 points

Sometimes it's better to ask the horse and get information from the horses mouth. I think someone has been standing at the wrong end of the horse.2 points

So.. there's a vaccine.. and there's still 12-16,000 died from it in the US.. Whereas the one without a vaccine has killed 2 in the US.1 point

I have spoken to Radio Cambridge today and have explained, how the original announcement was hidden within season ticket application info, how originally we were told it came from the showground, how this was denied by showground and Management now gone into siege mode. Radio have gone through this forum and are aware of the many sad cases. They are trying to contact Carl Johnson to get a satisfactory explanation as they have not provided one so far.. I have told them I do not mind being on Radio but will not do so alone as I am aware that many have declined.for their own reasons.1 point

Spot on! It was far better, less predictable racing rather than a first and second bend melee and - well, that's it! All over bar dodging stones coming your way from the riders following each other round and hoping to gate better next time.1 point

PoBandzie publish some excellent articles and interviews. It's much less tabloid'y which is great in the era of a complete decline of SportoweFakty's journalism quality.1 point

But how will they get a go? PL promoters have no idea about riders unless they are placed in front of them or recommended by others. Even then they will offer scant encouragement but the belittling junior league will make them feel good for a season before shutting it down blaming lack of rider support.1 point

Being as theres not much going on right now. My thoughts are that Niels is the better rider, he's proved it. But … At 38(I think) with his work load, and maybe with one eye on the GP's, I would put Niels and Cookie on a similar level in the UK right now. Cookie had a bit of an unsettled 2019, and I think he will up last seasons average of 7.78 a little. The same with Niels, who finished at Ippo with 7.54. Both to average around the 8 point mark imho.. I see Crumpy around the 7 point mark. But we well see soon enough. Great to see all 3 riding in the UK.1 point

i think the evidence is there if you look at some of the team line-ups in the mid sixties. The situation may well change when freedom of labour movement ends. I'm sure the government (and, by extension leave voters) were thinking of tradespeople rather than speedway riders but the effect will be the same - skill shortage . This may give added value to GB juniors1 point

3 decent ht leaders and 3 new 3 pointers and 1 has to ride at 2 or 4 which is going to be hard to score any points for one of them it’s got to be a decent last rider using the points left or could see them struggling home and away1 point

Fair play to them for making the track alterations hopefully this can be the catalyst for much improved racing and entertainment. I hope they are rewarded.1 point

Think I was going on the case in the 60s when they did and I think one or two riders rode under aliases to beat the ban. Which might have worked back then, but in this internet age wouldn't stand a chance of working. No doubt it was not enforceable by law even then, but the same as the threat of banning reigning world champion Barry Briggs from the world championship if he didn't tow the line and ride for Wimbledon it had the required effect. As for challenging things, we have heard for years that the asset system wouldn't stand up to scrutiny, but nobody had dared or bothered to challenge it.....1 point

I agree, and here's an example. Charles Wright: 2007: Workington (3.57) 2008: Workington (4.00) 2009: Workington (4.75) 2010: Redcar (4.64) 2011: Workington/Leicester (3.75) 2012: Edinburgh/Glasgow (4.05) ……... ……... 2019 Tops Peterboroughs averages in the Premier League Tops Redcars averages in the Championship. British Champion!1 point

What this fan really wants to see is that in a majority of races the positions will stand a very good chance of changing after 1/2 lap. And that riders believe that that is possible and make a real effort to do so, rather than accept after that first 1/2 lap that the result is set in stone. And settle for a high speed verion of line dancing. Bring back racing and the belief that having a serious go is worth it. Not least to entertain the remaining supporters!1 point

Reading Jason Pipe's comments on Newcastle's team he thinks Claus Vissing can put a point and a half on his 8.43 ave and James Wright can put at least 3 points on his 4.00 ave! Diamonds could challenge for play-offs of those predictions come true!1 point

It’s a lot lot harder for us up here as its really 2 days for the iow trip and pretty much the same for Plymouth and it could be even worse if you get there and it’s called off and if the rider has a full time job , it’s hard to fit all meetings around work holidays it’s a hard journey back when you know you have got to start work at 7.30 the next day and you only got in at 41 point
