  2. The Wightlink Warriors Shale Track Racing Club have announced their NORA Motorsport race programme for 2021 and what a bumper action-packed season it promises to be with eleven consecutive weekly meetings from late June featuring something for every shale track racing follower. Co-owner Martin Widman said, “Barry (Bishop) and I have worked really hard trying to develop what we think will be the most entertaining night out we possibly can. We have listed what we plan to run right now but we are also working to include more Formula 2 speedway, fun and games with the ‘Chicken Chasers’ and hopefully riders demonstrating the well-established Flat Track racing discipline. Spectators can be sure that every night will be packed with family entertainment from start to finish. We will be unveiling our Warrior team members shortly. They will be operating at a level slightly above the 2019 National League standard. The Warrior riders that have been chosen can’t wait to get started. Our attention now turns to the Wizards team and we fully expect to name some familiar and popular faces that we will coach, guide and provide with plenty of track time to aid with their racing technique. We also can’t wait to welcome our Smallbrook regulars as well as the many visitors from around the country who have been so encouraging and supportive of our new venture. Our media colleagues, social media platforms and website will be updated with all the breaking news as it happens and so I would ask all supporters to keep a close eye out for the latest information and as always we will be happy to hear from those with any questions via email to speedwayontheisland@yahoo.co.uk ”. 4. In my view, Cardiff succeeds for several reasons like it has a roof, it has a very large capacity, it’s in a city centre so is accessible by public transport as well as having plentiful accommodation (at an inflated price). Is there any other stadium in UK that does all of that?

  7. There is actually a lot more they could do. They could do what Eastbourne have done and be proactive rather than reactive. I looked at the Eastbourne website, and what they have done is spot on. People will feel comfortable that there will be a meeting, they know exactly what they have to do when going, and it would be easy to change things later if they feel more people could be let in as rules get relaxed. I looked at Leicester's website too, as they were mentioned here, and they are doing a similar thing to Eastbourne, although it is not so clear looking at website as you need to go to the ticket information on the website. But at least they have made a decision. King's Lynn should do the same. They can, after all, let more people in on the gate if the situation changes later and things ease up. I looked at the Kent website, as I might be going there for a meeting in June, and there is nothing at all. Just normal ticket information. This is fine for me, as I won't be going there for a while, but I think people need clear and easy to follow information for the opening meetings as a lot of people are probably wondering what will happen.

  8. We have always done relatively well from Challenge matches crowd and sponsor wise. Our view is to make them as relative as possible so by challenging clubs looking to keep their teams alive and continue to be part of shale track racing having the likes of Oxford, Cradley, Weymouth, and will I hope give the buzz of a league match, certainly all of these challenge types before have Stay safe one and all and thanks for your support in this challenging of times.

  9. What happened to the rule that a rider had to appear for their club for a facility to be used? Otherwise Belle Vue could have named Brady Kurtz or Ipswich could have named Jake Allen and used guests all season If riders are unable to ride TOUGH, NL guest. That goes for anyone, including my club , If Klindt/ Rowe or Kemp are stuck "somewhere" then no special dispensation cr@p. Everyone knew the rules.

  10. Eurosport have the contract for both British speedway plus GPs from next year 2022. When the contract was initially announced there was talk of Discovery/Eurosport setting up a 'Speedway Channel' in the longer term, so I guess their presentation will be very professional.

  16. And there's a massive potential for fraud. With all but 9 Premier League riders doubling up in the Championship, of course they are all claim that they are coming for their PL teams' fixtures.

  19. Ivan appeared with the gold bike as I recall. Can't remember who it was, but the presenter asked Ivan if the bike could, in theory, be fired up. He confirmed that it could, but he would not, of course, do so.

  20. Certainly Bullets top three are strong but having seen all 14 in practice sessions recently , Phillips and Greaves will go well, Rothery could be the strongest reserve of the four and Woolley should be amongst the points but home track advantage will assist the less experienced for a comfortable home win.

  21. So it's about time Swindon, Somerset and Poole stop messing about and say we are History.

  22. He shouldn't be allowed to ride until he can lay it down. Should have gone to Ivan Maugers training school, he stepped out on the track in front of you, hit him at your peril!

  26. Having moved to Cornwall in the last few years, I’m looking forward to watching Plymouth this season. Season ticket sorted. I’m going to miss my first love, the Swindon Robins, and my second love the Rebs at Somerset, but going to put my Gladiators hat on now. With Crumpie leading the attack, what’s not to like?!!! Well done Plymouth for putting together such an attractive team for this season.

  29. Well done to the Plymouth management they have assembled a very attractive looking team - Crump and Pedersen will be box office at this level. Used to follow Reading up until they folded and then moved to Devon and have watched Somerset since 2014. I’ll definitely get down to Plymouth this season with the Rebels not running and I suspect a fair few Rebels fans will. It will just be great to see some live racing and the smell of methonal again. Hopefully all of the clubs that run make a success of it.

  30. I wonder if that's going to make a difference though? Looking at how the next crop of Aussies like Jaimon Lidsey and now Frazer Bowes are choosing to base themselves in Poland or Germany so that they can more easily hop between EU countries and their teams in Germany, Poland, Denmark and Sweden, being based in the UK could actually be a hindrance to them, no matter how easy it is to get to the UK. Having an easy entrance into a dead end street doesn't get you anywhere.

  31. Maybe bill can make alot more money selling the land instead of losing money running speedway. Having known the family for a long time, I say good luck to them which ever way they go.
