We had that conversation at Shawfield back in the glory years when we were thumping everyone at home . It does actually get boring after a while . Give me what we have now every time , and if we manage to win something - fine , if not then as long as the entertainment on view stays the same .9 points

Speedway hopefully returning to Somerset and 15 minutes or so up the road from the old track. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!7 points

Nathan Ablitt has been signed up for Wroclaw in the Polish U.24 league in 2023. Good lad.4 points

Yeah. He threw the towel on the sofa early this morning and claimed it before I wake up. Cheeky German ****3 points

What do you actually get for winning? Are there any financial benefits? Winning put Workington out of business a couple of years back!! Who outside a few hundred hardcore fans actually cares about who wins what?3 points
-
A few seniors at Peterborough didn’t pay anything to get in for the last two seasons apparently. Their excuse? They were riding for the Panthers!3 points

A multiple GP winner, an U21 World Champion, a British U21 Champion and several National title winners and you don't think that's a capable team? Do tell what or who you are looking for?2 points

But the only league they all rode in regularly so the only way to compare them properly somebody made a good point earlier in the thread about Ablitt overtaking the likes of Coles, Stoneman and possibly Atkins over the course of the season as he is young and will improve whereas they've been around a while. Certainly hope he gets a spot in the Champs, and of course rides in Poland will do him the world of good.2 points

Mulford didn't start the season with BV as he was a late replacement for Parkinson Blackburn. Nathan started the season and missed the last meeting at Edinburgh.2 points

I remember him holding Doyle out for 3 laps back in August. Best of luck to the lad, and Jack with Ippo.2 points

It would be a really good track for him, he has genuine speed. Chucks his toys out his pram a bit, but if Lemon can get that out of his game then could be a really good signing.2 points

First poiny - winning didn’t put Workington out of business. It was years of over trading and late paying that did that. They were going to fail at some point but the winning streak just speeded that up. As far as financial benefits are concerned, ask Poole how much they made from the play off final. Or Leicester how much they expected to make. These are £30,000-£40,000 events with costs the same as a normal league event. And winning teams, promoted well, encourage more support. In my opinion. .2 points

I’m very much of the opposite thinking. your 6 and 7 have to do 30% (28.57)of the rides for the team. If your team is carrying 2 x 2 pointers and they make their average that leaves 42 points required to get a win before heat 15. That works out at 2.1 points per rider per race. 4-2’s won’t cut it. last year Poole could carry one two pointer as Nathan only did 3 rides a night (10%) leaving the rest of the riders requiring to score 1.76 points per ride(4-2’s now cut it) to secure a win by the end of heat 14. if you think that your 1-5 can all average 8.4 a meeting then that’s the way to go. I’d go with a 4 pointer at 6 and take the #7’s 4th ride unless he’s scored 2 already in the meeting. (Pretty much what Poole did with Nathan all season)2 points

Don't think so, Complin's away ave was far better than his home ave for Newcastle. Put him on a home track he likes & his average could rise.2 points

Any rider can change his mind until contracts are signed. Lawson last year decided against Plymouth & headed to Poole, Redcar suggesting Jenkins was gonna stay before going to Oxford. I don't particularly blame the riders as clubs are quick to drop a rider when it suits them.2 points

The fact so many Promotions haven't stuck with him says far more than any fans' comments.1 point

So now we need three more riders let’s see who is closest for what its worth I am going with Hume , Riss and Holder. I think that fits . If it doesn’t I’m sure someone will tell me and I will have to guess again i don’t get why everyone assumes Hume won’t be back because before he got injured he was worth way more than his average. If him And Rew both put a point on their averages and the rest maintain theirs that’s a winning team. just a bit of fun with the guessing though and it keeps us all having something to speculate over l1 point

Also in his defence as a number 7 he should be riding against the oppositions 7 in every heat he’s in, but he was never in heat 8.1 point

Lemon rates mulford. So that’s good enough for me. He feels he can nurture him. He’s good on grass and long track so with more speedway racing it should only improve him.1 point

While I agree with you to an extent, this team looks set up for ashfield so I'd predict a few 55-60 home wins tbh However, even those around ashfield are dam exciting. Berwick in the league immediately springs to mind, brilliant racing that night1 point

Sorry don’t mean to come across as “I know something you don’t” which can be irritating I know, but as of today he definitely isn’t in the Ipswich team.1 point

Iv never really seen the hype with bickley, there is no natural ability, he just looks like a kid that has had a lot of track time, he rides the bike around instead of racing it round. Imo he won't progress from his current level.1 point

I wonder when our next team member announcement will be........Monday this week, missed Wednesday......this Monday?1 point

Bang on Paulco. We are so lucky to have a racers track with so many different racing lines which provides excitement pretty consistently. As I’ve said before, it’s the reason we find it hard to win trophies because most riders love riding here. With the reintroduction of the aggregate bonus point (big mistake), I think we will suffer even more as we don’t have the home track advantage like some other teams do. Like you say though, I’d far rather be entertained every meeting than watch a bore fest in order just to be able to say we won a trophy.1 point

Yeah I'd rather watch a 46-44 match than a 60-30 match but with the aggregate score being introduced my view on that may change. Of course the ongoing problem with aggregate scores when riders are missing for whatever reason, meetings cut short due to weather etc is always going to keep The Forum kicking on1 point

Mulford averaged a point more than Ablitt in the NL last year and actually turned up at Armadale for their most important meting.1 point

Trophies are a bonus but surely no promoter gets into speedway to come second.Glasgow is an excellent club but be honest can you say your promoter is happy with their considerable investment they make every season and I'm only going On what's been said on here I've no idea what they invest in £'s to not win trophies.Poole have the Ford's who despite what has been said on here is a "jumped up hairdresser " knows how to build winning teams and this last season we had an excellent track as for one sided meetings yes a few but I would love for every meeting to be close and you would think as all sides build to the same points pre season you would get close meetings but that is not the case, still it is what it is and look forward to next season and who knows what 7 Poole will start with well we know 4 we all guess the rest.1 point

He was indeed as a youngster. I remember rye house at brum when Adam and Tai rode for Rye House. Tai literally flew over the fence one race and the rest of the team were incapacitated somehow. Adam and a.n.other Rye House rider kept their team going and only narrowly lost. Brum were lucky to have Adam the next year after and was indeed faster than Lord Lyons at times but didn't get in front of him to many times. If he had? Who is to say. They were exciting times indeed, but unfortunately luck never stayed on Adams side after a crash a Rye House later that season. Shame would have loved to have seen where a fit Adam Rpynon would have ended up.1 point

I’m not completely sold on the name idea but frankly they could be called just about anything as long as it’s local and in Somerset.1 point

It does seem a lot of people are jealous of glasgow tho, int just about a trophy tigers win most weeks with a top race track & product give me that every time over clubs who rak up big home wins with zero racing & entertainment...without racing the sport goes simple1 point

You don’t fully grasp the concept that the clubs worked together that both were happy with. And not one or the other being quick enough as you put it to get deals done, both clubs would have to agree the deal. But your version probably suits your comfort blanket better that is Glasgow bad Poole good.1 point
