  2. He probably needs the money to build his speedway stadium somewhere within 45 minutes of Swindon

  3. One of my favourite debuts for Somerset was Matt Read. Must of been back in 2003 if memory serves me correctly, as we had been pretty rubbish and he came in as a new signing against Exeter. He romped to a paid maximum from his programmed rides before finishing on 12+2 from 5 rides and featuring one of my favourite speedway photos of years gone by as seen below. He became abit of a cult hero at Somerset… even more so when he had an almighty crash and ended up clearing the safety fence. Unfortunately his career was cut short but a long track crash I think it was but a definite triumph!

  5. I would think, hope, that the finished article will look better. the girl who designed it probably isn't an artist and it would be just be a rough sketch.

  6. That was the exact reason why Wembley finals were special - the atmosphere!

  8. Haven’t enjoyed a rider at Foxhall more than Doyle since Sigalos way back in the early 80’s. So dominant around here and you can just tell he’s giving 100% in every single race whether he makes the gate or not. Hates losing here and I love to see it.

  10. 2?? This was only two seasons ago. Has Doyle ever scored 2 anywhere let alone a play off final? That’s why I always laugh at those predicting Holder will overtake Doyle here in the UK anytime soon. The Peterborough lad predicted Bewley would average more than Doyle last year and even bet money on it before he was left with egg on his face. I mean it’s gonna happen in time, there’s a big gap in ages, but some people seem desperate to see Doyle’s demise for some reason and it just ain’t happening anytime soon. I’ll take another bet with anyone that Doyle will finish top of the Aussie averages this coming season here in the UK. Any takers?

  11. Yep only Lambert as a like for like replacement, not a premier league select like what won last season

  12. If I'm honest I don't believe rev limiters are a positive move at any level of speedway. It would be more sustainable to limit bore size which would mean engine manufacture & tuners would need to provide the correct parts but engine revs would be reduced without outside retarders being needed. I understand that many will bring up the expense involved but we have been hearing about rev limiters for 6 seasons now. I'd have to ask how many riders are using an engine that is over 6 years old?

  14. I can't really get angry at Tomalin because I'm not sure that he exists. However, what Chapman actually said on the centre green in 2022 was: "I'd love to stay at the EoES, it's the place to be. That's not going to happen we know. I do believe that there is a few more years here and that will give us time to build a new base and structure for Peterborough Speedway." Chapman's tune changed for 2023 and he did bugger all outwardly about a new base or structure, just sung the AEPG tune all of the way through and gave them their PR coup at the end of 2023 and allegedly made more than a few quid at the same time (nothing to do with brown envelopes before anyone gets excited). The Tomalin deal reportedly broke down due to longevity of the club which was Chapman's newly found 2023 position. If Tomalin had started negotiations based on Chapman's alleged 2022 position then that would possibly have led to a deal? That was the situation that we were dealing with and what actually went on is one of those loose ends as Columbo would say. Tomalin's only mistake was not getting everything signed and sealed before playing the social media game. Perhaps he's learned if he's still around?

  16. So pleased he's fired, as good at business as he is at riding speedway - not very.
