Reading Host World Cup?
tomazpozrl replied to Rema & Ben's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Not sure about Reading track, but FIM rules regarding this are: Track length : from 265 m to 425 m Minimum track width : - straights : 10 m - bends : 14 m -
AFAIK, a part of the deal of bringing Ferjan in as a wild card, is also promoting this meeting in Hungary. Hungarians are supposed to sell a couple of hundreds of tickets for Krsko Gp in Hungary. And about Pavlic - I understand he was considered for at least a reserve place in this year's GP meeting, BUT he is too young to ride in the GP. The age limit is 17, and Jura will turn 17 in June, therefore he'll have to wait another year to make a GP debut. Hmm ... well, I won't comment on that. Ferjan has been riding with hungarian licence since 2003. But he is (still) not Hungarian, he is still Slovenian citizen. Although, as he said in the interview for slovenian speedway website www.speedway.si a couple of weeks ago, he is learning hungarian language and the national anthem, which are among others two conditions to receive hungarian passport. By his own words, he should get the new passport before the World Cup qualifying meeting in Miskolc in July and will ride for Hungary. Not sure about "mending broken bridges". As far as I know, choosing Ferjan for WC was the decision of Krsko GP organizers, and that's AMD Krsko club, and not the Slovenian motorcycling federation. Both sides (Ferjan and the authorities from Ljubljana) seem to put all the problems behind them, but honestly I can't see a closer cooperation (Ferjan coming back to Slovenia, riding for Slovenian national team) in the near future.

Hi guys I just wanted to let you know that Matej Ferjan has been nominated by AMD Krsko, the organizer of Grand Prix of Slovenia, as a wild card for this year's Krsko GP. This has not yet been approved by FIM and BSI, but it is supposed to happen in the next couple of days. Reserve riders in Krsko will be Izak Santej and Jernej Kolenko.

Really sad news. I got in contact with Kjeld last year when he helped me with some Danish and UEM info (he was also a member of UEM track racing commission). He was one of those blokes, who are always willing to help fellow speedway fans. R.I.P.

New Slovenian Speedway Website
tomazpozrl replied to tomazpozrl's topic in International World of Speedway
Sorry, garf, but updating the website regulary in Slovenian language only is already quite a big task for us. English version would double the time and the effort we put in the site and we simply aren't capable of doing that at the moment. By the way : are you perhaps aware of any good slovenian - english online translator ? Sure I will. If there's anything you want me to tranlaste, just tell me. -
New Slovenian Speedway Website
tomazpozrl replied to tomazpozrl's topic in International World of Speedway
Ferjan is riding with Hungarian licence again this year. And by his own words (in the interview he gave for our website) he will also receive Hungarian passport this year and will ride for Hungary in the World Cup qualifier. -

I have just been on the phone with one of the AMD Krsko officials. Although there was a lot of snow last weekend, the track is in pretty good condition now. The snow is now all gone, but the track is still very wet. They are now waiting for it to dry out and then they'll open it for practice. If everything goes by plan, first riders should be on the track by the end of next week.

Yes, Belgian organizers wanted Zagar and Kolenko to ride in this meeting, so I gave that guy contact addresses for Matej and Nejc. But as I remember, both riders were pretty busy at that period, so had to reject the invitation.

Czech Golden Helmet
tomazpozrl replied to whowasthatberntpersson's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Czech Goldeh Helmet will be staged on October 14th/15th, with Lubos Tomicek memorial in Prague on October 16th. Originally GH meeting was planned on September 30th/October 1st, but UEM put European championship final on that weekend, so Czechs were forced to change their plans. This news was announced today on Golden Helmet meeting website : http://www.zlataprilba.cz/zpravy.php?id=33 -
Maybe I can help you here. Next year's Slovenian-Croatian-Austrian team championship will consist of 8 meetings, with 4 teams competing. SWC 2001 format will be used. 2 Slovenian teams will probably be teams AMTK Ljubljana and AMD Krsko. Ljubljana's team will probably consist of : Matej Zagar, Jernej Kolenko, Maks Gregoric, Matic Voldrih and Jaka Hlad. Krsko team will probably consist of : Izak Santej, Denis Stojs, Samo Kukovica, Davor Volk and Matija Duh. Croatian team : Jurica Pavlic, Nikola Martinec, Marko Vlah, Ivan Vargek, Marko Oto, Zoran Strahija, Renato Cvetko. Austrian team : Manuel Hauzinger, Fritz Wallner, Ivan Nagar, Norbert Grögler, Heinrich Schatzer. It's very early for any official news about team lineups, of course, but I think the names that I mentioned will probably be riding. As far as the meeting in Gorican is concerned, it's even harder to predict who will be riding. Zagar is very questionable, as he'll be in Krsko the night before, and injuries might also play an important role in building the lineups for this meeting.
