  11. For those of you interested, here is a report from Gregor Tomazic, Slovenian speedway journalist and Speedway star correspondent. European Club Champions Cup Final Ljubljana, September 19 In the final, where five National Club Champions from Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Czech Republic and Hungary rode 25 heats with five riders in each of them, that was the peak of the season for Ljubljana Club and also one of the best meetings in past years, Polish Club CKM Wlokniarz Czestochowa, comprised of Gregorz Walasek, Sebastian Ulamek, Ryan Sullivan, Rune Holta and Michal Szczepaniak, won comfortably with great team riding as none of the riders scored less than 11 points. Second were Russians SK Mega-Lada Togliatti and third were home team, AMTK Ljubljana. Second and third placed teams rode also with foreign riders such as Leigh Adams for last year's winners, team Togliatti, and Bjarne Pedersen, Niels Kristian Iversen and David Howe for team Ljubljana. Fourth were team Autoklub Marketa v ACR from Czech Republic and finishing last were team Hajdu Volan SC Debrecen from Hungary. Polish team came to Ljubljana as a pre-meeting favourite. They led all the way throughout the meting and their lead was never seriously threatened. Especially convincing was Rune Holta who came in Heat 4 from fourth to 1st and dropped his only points in Heat 11. This was also the Heat, comprised of newly crowned European Champion Matej Zagar, Leigh Adams, Holta, Matej Ferjan and Bo Brhel, that was to be the crowd pleaser heat with so many “big names” involved. And it really was as riders presented some amazing riding skills. We only saw two accidents but Heat 18 didn't end up good for Slovenian, riding with Hungarian license, Matej Ferjan. Howe hit the hole and was lifted up. As his bike was heading toward the bend Ferjan had no space left so he hit Howe’s bike and as a consequence hit the fence. He gave his best to ride in a re-run and got a point for his team but was unable to continue meeting due to knee injury. It was a last heat decider for second place with Russian and Slovenian team coming equal with 60 points. Rune Holta gated everybody, tactical substitute Roman Povazhny was second and Izak Santej was third. But on the back straight he had engine failure and dreams for Ljubljana team of fighting for second place were over. Adams, who top scored in the meeting with 21 points including win in Heat 20, where he rode as a joker, said after the meeting: »It was quite hard to compete only one day after GP event but I am very glad that I helped my team enough to be second at the end. Track was not ideal but it was the same for everyone. I didn't want to risk any injury. Therefore, some good starts I made, saved me of being involved in first corner bunching.« Pedersen said afterwards: »The track wasn't made for many overtaking manoeuvres, as it was very grippy and wet, so I drove carefully as I still have very important meetings in front. My engine was very strong so I had some difficulties with finding the right sprocket. But nevertheless I am happy that the meeting is over and that I didn't get injured as it was the first time for me to ride on this track.« Howe said afterwards: »This must have been a meeting where nothing went right for me. I had engine problems and the track was also so unpredictable. Although I looked at the track while I was riding, I didn't see holes, but when I rode over them I felt them a lot. This was also the reason that I felt in Heat 18.«

  14. Yes that's right. I think he was offered a wild card, but he refused it.
  15. In the absence of Rune Holta and Lars Gunestad Arnt Forland became 2004 norvegian champion and Rune Sola finished as runner-up. That's probably the reason why they were chosen.

  23. I won't comment because I didn't see it either, but a friend of mine who was in Wroclaw told me that she thinks both Lindback's and Zagar's exclusions were referee's mistake. Both were on the inside, and Poles (Miskowiak and Miedzinski) leaned on them because otherwise they would most certainly fall - but for some strange reason, Lindback and Zagar were excluded.
